• Diana Logan – Highlights: Cultural Immersion • Cultural Immersion day with Annapurna Dance company at the SJT looking at Indian Storytelling through dance. Schools come to the SJT to work with this great company from West Yorkshire. February 2017 • Schools that took part: Braeburn Primary School, Filey Ebor Academy, Filey Infants School • Students were able to try on traditional costume, worked with Rangoli pattern, did traditional stick dancing and many other activities. • Featured on Look North and had Braeburn school teachers discussing the work that had been done. All the students had a fantastic day learning about a different culture and working together. Schools Festival:

• Young people came together from Schools across Scarborough, and Filey to perform 20 minute pieces based around the theme ‘Pathways.’ • These shows are created with the young people and their teachers with theatre staff and give the young people an opportunity to work in a professional theatre environment. • Schools that took part this year were: Seamer and Irton Primary School, Wheatcroft Primary, Hunmanby Primary, Filey Infants, Fylingdales primary, Springhead College, , Scalby School, , Filey Ebor Academy. • For many students this was their first time public speaking. • Some students who had been previously disengaged in other subjects in school were able to show their hard work and be proud of their achievements. • Students were able to showcase their own individual contributions to their learning. Impact & Evaluation

• 83% of students say that the work makes them want to learn more about the topic. • 100% of students are reporting increased confidence through the work that they are doing on the Broadening Horizons Scheme • 90.7% of teachers say it is an effective way of presenting learning to their class. • 95.24% of teachers see a change of confidence in their students. • 85% of Students are learning something they did not know before.
