REPORT ON LIFT IRRIGATION SCHEME

Block- Chanderi Distt -Ashoknagar

General :-

Chanderi Lift Irrigation Scheme is proposed from the Reservoir of Project of of and Lalitpur District of Uttarpradesh. The location of proposed Chanderi LIS is shown in SOI Toposheet No. 54 L/1, at Latitude 24045'16" and Longitude 780 11' 49".

Rajghat Dam Project is an interstate project of Madhya Pradesh And . The dam is constructed across and is situated on the borderof Ashoknagar District of Madhya Pradesh and Lalitpur District of Uttarpradesh. The dam is constructed in accordance to Joint Agreement between the two states dated 01.08.1972 & 09.12.1973. The reservoir has a capacity of 1500.00 Mcum. The live storage of Rajghat dam is 62.00 TMC. Out of which 9.00TMC is reserved for downstream committed use and balance 53 TMC is divided in equal share of 26.50 TMC each for M.P. & U.P. The share for downstream committed use from the Rajghat complex below Rajghat dam is in the ratio of 30:70 of which Madhya Pradesh gets 8.50 TMC of water. So Total share of M.P. is 35.00 TMC.

Madhya Pradesh is utilizing its share of water through L.B.C. , Carrier canal, Datia Irrigation Canal and canal System to irrigate 1,64,789 ha. of designed area. The total area irrigated is increased to 1,87,000 ha. up to the year 2014-15 by all means including lift. There are no chances of further increase in area this year.

Inspite of this M.P. is not in a position to use its water share of 35.00 TMC. The total water utilized by M.P. from the Rajghat complex in the last four years in Rabi Irrigation is as follows :

Year Water Utilized in TMC 2011-12 29.84 2012-13 27.79 2013-14 23.76 2014-15 25.81

Hence for full utilization of M.P. water share a lift irrigation scheme Chanderi is proposed in Chanderi & Mugaoali blocks of Ashoknagar district to irrigate 15,000 ha. of C.C.A.

Total water required to irrigate 15000 ha command area in Rabi season considering that 200ha of land is irrigated per mcum of water, works out to be 75mcum i.e. 2.65 TMC. Which is much less than the surplus water available from MP share in Rajghat Dam Project each year.

The gross command area available at the proposed L.I.S. site on left bank of Rajghat reservoir is 29232 ha. After deduction of command area of existing minor irrigation schemes and taking 60% area of net available G.C.A. The proposed command area (C.C.A) of the Chanderi LIS comes out to be 15000 ha.

Hence scheme proposed is feasible.

Location of Project :

Proposed Chanderi LIS is situated near Village Kunwarpur, Tehsil & Block Chanderi in District- Ashoknagar in Madhya Pradesh. Scheme is situated in SOI Toposheet No. 54 L/1. at Latitude 24045'16" and Longitude 780 11' 49".

The scheme site is approachable from district head quarter Ashoknagar, through SH-19. Project site is 29 km away from block head quarter and 12 km from Chanderi block head quarter.

Hydrology :

In the proposed Chanderi LIS the water will be lifted from the reservoir against the unutilized share of M.P. from Rajghat Dam reservoir. The detailed hydrological study was already completed and approved by the competent authorities for Rajghat Project.

So there is no need for hydrological study for proposed LIS scheme.

Submergence :

Chanderi Lift Irrigation Scheme is proposed with the lifting of water from reservoir of Rajghat Dam Project. So there will be no submergence for proposed scheme.

Irrigation and Canal Network Proposal :

Proposed scheme is a Lift Irrigation Scheme. In this scheme a jackwell is proposed near village Kunwarpur on left flank of Rajghat Dam at R.D. 5.5 km.& at R.L. 356.62m. Distribution chamber is proposed near Village Barkhera. Length of rising main proposed will be 15.5 km. to lift water at R.L. 432m. Total Lift proposed is 75.38m. up to Distribution Chamber. Then water from distribution chamber will be diverted in to a Local Nala and a Pick Up Weir is proposed near village Naron. The distance from distribution chamber to this Pick Up Weir. is 2.50 km. This Pick Up Weir will feed water to LBC and its network system. Looking to the availability of good command area it is proposed to take off Main Canal form Pick Up Weir and will be named LBC Main Canal.

LBC Main Canal is 38.50 Km in length and its network system is 122 km long (approximately) to irrigate 15000 ha. of land in Rabi Irrigation.

The gross command area available at the proposed site on left bank of Rajghat Reservoir is 29232 ha. After deduction of command area of existing minor irrigation schemes and taking 60% area of net available G.C.A. , the proposed command area (CCA)of the Chanderi LIS will be 15000 ha.

Land Acquisition :

There is no need of land acquisition for submergence area, Land required for Rising Main, Distribution Chamber, Canals are as below.

1. Rising Main (a) Forest land -7.00 Ha

(b) Private land -8.00 Ha

2. Distribution Chamber = Private land- 1 Ha.

3. Main canal and minor canal = Private land- 122 Ha.

Including above land the total land required will be nearly 138 ha. for developing the whole CCA. The land acquisition includes 7 ha. forest land coming under rising main.

Structures and Component :-

There will be approx 250 structures to be constructed on canal and rising main for development of whole CCA.

After survey the detailed project report will be submitted which include other component of scheme such as Approach Channel/Intake Chamber, Jack Well, Motor and Gentry System, Rising Main, Distribution Chamber and other structures required as per guide line and detailed survey of scheme.

Recommendation :-

At present the proposed area is not covered by Rajghat Canal Project and there are no Irrigation facilities in the area. Hence the Chanderi LIS is proposed to provide Irrigation facilities in the area.

Due to need of Irrigation facilities and availability of water the Chanderi Lift Irrigation scheme it is highly recommended that the estimate for survey work should be sanctioned at an earliest so that DPR may be prepared for construction of LIS.
