GENERAL INFORMATION

 We at Frontier Safaris always try to please our clients. We will climb the extra mountain and we will never leave a stone unturned to ensure a successful safari and great trophy quality.

 Our Professional Hunters work hard and they love their work, the nature and outdoors. These men have been hunting all their lives, it is in their blood, and that is why that will go the extra mile for you.

 Our trackers are also very familiar with the bush. They have the best eyes for spotting animals you will ever see. They have grown up with the bush and the animals, and for them this is their lives, they are one with nature.

 Our skinners are very experienced and are professional in what they do. Our skinners are highly skilled in their job and have had years of experience skinning animals. They are always proud of their work, and each animal to them is important to do an excellent job.

 Our caterers work very hard. They are the ones that make sure you are well fed, your rooms are cleaned, your clothes are washed, the fires are made, your drinks are cold etc. Without their loyal hard work your stay would be not so comfortable.

 Because you are hunting wild, free animals, it is not always possible to shoot exactly what you were wanting to. But we will always do our best to help you achieve what you were wanting to.

 As Frontier Safaris management, we arrange hunting on other game ranches. We do this to ensure good trophy quality. It is however more expensive for us to hunt on other ranches. We have to pay the land owner for the animals shot, we have to pay travelling costs, sometimes for accommodation too, but we want to make sure our clients get the best possible trophies. It is also good to support these landowners, as they then look after their game animals better because it is bringing them in revenue and in return the game herds get stronger.

 The package price includes field preparation of your trophies. Field preparation is the skinning of the animals and the salting of the skins.

 On completion of your safari, you will need to have your taxidermy work done. You may either choose to have this done in your home country or with us at ours Taxidermy. If you choose to have it done elsewhere besides our Taxidermy, the trophies must be dipped and packed (cleaned and prepared for shipment ) . Please find attached our Taxidermy price list and Dip and Pack pricelist. Any CITES animal, will cost $95 for dip and pack. There is also $250 administration fee per hunter with dip and pack cost. This is for the cost of the crates and admin work and getting export permits from the government. There is also Value added Tax of 14% of the dip and pack charges.

 Dip is the drying and folding of the skin with pesticides. It is also the boiling and cleaning of the skulls.

 Pack is the packaging of your raw trophies.

 It is always very easy for the small time taxidermists back in your country to blame the skinner or us for doing something wrong. We take allot of effort to ensure that the field preparation of trophies is given our best attention and we are proud of the reputation which we have built for our good field preparation and shipping of trophies. Please feel free at any time to check the skinners and make sure you are happy with their skinning skills, salting of the skins and boiling of the skulls. They will appreciate you taking interest in your trophies. An animal must be caped within three hours after being shot. The animal must also be kept out of the sun. your professional hunter knows these things but also make him aware that you know.

 If you would like your horns to be measured for SCI, a donation of $100 is requested for the transportation costs of an official measurer.

RULES FOR HUNTING

 It is by law that while hunting, no alcohol may be drunk during the hunt, not even a beer or a light beer with lunch.  Please do not throw your cigarette butts away in the bush. Keep them or give them to a staff member to throw away.  You may fill your rifle’s magazine with bullets before the days hunting, but a bullet may only be loaded into the chamber on your Professional hunter’s instruction.  Before taking a shot at an animal, make sure you are comfortable with taking the shot, as any wounded animals must be paid for in full.  An animal is determined if it is wounded or not, if any blood (no matter how little) is found.  At the end of each day you must empty your rifle’s magazine, and lock your rifle in your rifle case.  When driving with your rifle in the front of a vehicle, the barrel must point towards the floor of the vehicle.  When driving with your rifle on the back of a vehicle, the barrel must point upwards at all times or be in a gun holder.  When driving on a public road with your rifle to hunt on another ranch, it is by law that the rifle must be transported in a gun case.  It is imperative that all payments for extra animals are settled in full before your departure. We do accept master and visa cards. Our credit card machine is unfortunately in Rands and our prices are quoted in Dollars. In order for us to be paid the correct dollar amount, we use the rand buying rate for the day and add a 5% in order for us to get the correct dollar exchange amount. If you wish to save on the 5%, you need to arrange with your bank for a transfer to be done TWO days before your departure.

SUGGESTION ON WHAT TO TIP THE STAFF

Clients always ask me what to tip their professional hunter, tracker, skinner and the caterers. Safaris are very expensive and if you cannot afford to tip the staff, they will not think badly of you. A thank you is also appreciated very much. In the hunting industry there is a going rate, at what kind of tips a client gives. Just like at a restaurant, there is a going rate at what to tip the waiter serving your meal. The tip normally given to a professional hunter is $ 75 per day. The amount given will obviously depend on how hard you found your professional hunter had worked for you. It will all depend on how happy you were with his guiding you, on what good trophies he helped you get, on how he served you drinks , how good your packed lunches were, made sure you were happy at all times and in general how hard he worked to make you safari a success. It is our company policy that if you are not a smoker, your professional hunter may not smoke in the vehicle. If your professional hunter does smoke in the vehicle, please let management know and do not tip your professional hunter. The tracker normally gets $10 per day. This will also depend on how happy you were with his service and how hard he worked to help find good trophies for you. The skinner normally gets $10 per day. This is always a big job to do, and they do work hard to make sure all your trophies a prepared correctly and this takes them sometimes late into the night to achieve..Some clients also tip the staff in the skinning shed who take care of your trophies It is the duty of the Lodge Staff which is divided into four groups, to make sure you are fed well, that your drinks are cold and you have enough ice and variety of soft drinks, beer and wine, that your room is tidy and clean, that your laundry is done and that you get the correct laundry back and all the other small things which will make your stay more enjoyable.

Lodge manager: $100 per hunt,

The Laundry Staff - $ 25 per hunt,

The Cleaning Staff - $25 per hunt,

The Porter Boys - $25 per hunt,

The Kitchen Staff - $25 per hunt

This they will divide out amongst themselves. They also try to make your stay pleasant and comfortable as possible, by cleaning your room, washing the laundry, preparing food etc. Please take not that due to the many different fabrics now available, we have stopped ironing some clothing as to avoid causing any damage to clothing. Tips are handed into the office to our Secretary, Amber Strong, after you have completed your Safari. Professional hunters tips and skinner can be given to them directly.

On other ranches, if the ranch owners staffs help is needed, the recommended tip is $10. We feel very strongly that if any of the above services were not up to your expectations, you should not follow our guidelines on what to tip. If you were not happy with the services then please help me by not tipping at all.
