A study tour was organized for S.Y. B. Sc students and T. Y. B.Sc. students on 22 February 2020 to 24 February 2020 by the Deprtment of Zoology, Hutatma Rajguru Mahavidyalaya, Rajgurunagar. A total of 38 students (20 students S.Y.B. Sc. and 18 students T. Y. B.Sc.), Five teachers and one non-teaching staff participated in the tour. As part of the syllabus of Savitribai Phule Pune University, the study tour was organized and through this, the students were exposed to rich faunal diversity of Costal area and Costal locality. The tour programme was planned for one day under the leadership of HOD, Dr. S. B. Patil, Prof. D. N. Birhade, Prof. U. M. Pawar, Prof. G. S. Kadlag, Prof.D. R. Borhade.

KOLHAPUR

Kolhapur University First we visit to Shivaji University Kolhapur. There we meet Dr. Shrike (Campus Development Officer) who guide us in University. All students of S.Y.B.S.C & T.Y. B. Sc students saw the structure of building. There are Departments of Science faculty, among all department students visit Zoology department, Botany department, & Physics department were they got great knowledge about each subject. The University Campus is very nice & their background environment is silent. Thereafter we visit herbarium sheet & Zoology project made by Post graduate & Research students.

Mahalaxmi Temple Next we visited to Mahalaxmi temple which is the beautifully architect temple attracts huge devotees from in& around Kolhapur. Goddess Mahalaxmi also known as Amba Bai who called by all Maharashtrian people.

Rankala Lake

Rankala lake is said to be the oldest of all lakes in . There is Rankanbhairav temple at the centre of the lake. Its name is derived from this temple.

Jotiba Temple

Jotiba Temple is a holy site of Hindusim in Kolhapur district. The deity of the temple is held by the locals spirit of three gods: Brahma, Vishnu, Mahesha & Jamadagni. We also interact with people who comes for the darshan in this temple. Our students ask the people that the story behind this temple.

Ganpatipule Temple & Beach

At Next day, we visit Ganpatipule temple which is a small pilgrimage & beach town located in the on the Konkan coast of Maharashtra in . Lord Ganesha is believed to be power which all people called them Lambodar. Ganpatipule has one of the most spectacular beaches along the Konkan coast in Maharashtra.

Malgund Beach

After Ganpatipule we visit to Malgund Beach, the sea water is very clear. The beach is surrounded by lush greenery & surrounded by the beautiful nature. The loose sediments, scarce freshwater & highly saline conditions are difficult to live for plants but few species live. Students collected different types of shells & Hermit crab starfish observed on beach.

Ratnadurg Fort

Ratnadurg fort is also known as Bhagwati fort. This fort is a main tourist attraction due to the bhagwati temple inside the fort. There is a cave below the fort. The main thing of this fort is Citadel defense was imoproved by Maratha Koli admiral Kanhoji Andre.

Mirkarwada Bandar (port)

After fort we visited to Mirkarwada, there we saw how the people are exporting fishes. The main occupation of the people is fishing and related activities. Mirkarwada Adarsha Machchhimaar Sanstha has nearly 200 deep sea Pursieners and Trawlers. The people speak Konkani language and follow religion Islam. Their students handle the different types of fishes like Disco fish, Scoliodon fish etc. Students took photographs of the fishes.

College of Fisheries

Last we visited at Fishery college, Shirgoan in Ratnagiri, Fisheries science involves the management of fisheries. It is multidisciplinary science, which draws from the sub disciplinary of aquaculture. Dr.Dabir Pathan & Dr. Yadhav gave the information in detail about their fishery subject & related to it there different branches like Taxonomy, Physiology, Biology etc. After that they show the laboratories of different subjects like aquaculture lab, biochemistry lab, fish processing lab. There they explain about the breeding mechanism, their nutrition, farming & How to diagnosed the diseases in fishes.

Dr. Kshrisagar told us that their students are performing large projects on fishes & also they made byproducts of fishes. After we visit to another lab were Gears & Crafts were kept Dr. Sharandhar gave us information about Gears & Crafts in detail. Each student handle the equipments or models of Gears & Crafts. Even they also gave us information of SONAR i.e Echo point that flow we can find fishes inside water by the different techniques. They also gave us information about how to secure life when we are in water. So we all got great experienced in this study tour & At last we have a group photo with the all teachers & students. The tour gave a good exposure to costal biodiversity and costal fauna for everyone and was a good study experience.
