Ainsi Émile Malespine, poète et cinéaste, dadaïste lyonnais, décrivait-il Montparnasse en 1922 1. Après avoir fertilisé les lettristes, les Situs et Fluxus, l’esprit dada des origines continue de souffler chez Marie Losier : internationale des artistes créant leurs propres réseaux de survie mentale, trafics d’images inattendues, souvent brisées, décrivant leur temps plus sûrement que tout journal, indifférence si totale aux codes et conventions que ceux-ci n’existent même plus au titre de repoussoir, énergie expressive inextinguible en forme d’exclamation visuelle, en forme de cris d’amour et de joie à la rencontre de certains corps attractifs et envoûtants.

dans ses notes, Nietzsche a laissé cette mystérieuse expression : que certains êtres ouvraient « les stations expérimentales de l’humanité ». Guidée par son seul instinct, depuis deux décennies déjà Marie Losier s’avère exclusivement aimantée par de tels êtres et ses films décrivent la nature de leur expérimentation, sur un mode organique. Chez elle, les artistes (cinéastes, les frères Kuchar, musiciens, Genesis P-Orridge, Peaches ou Alan Vega, plasticiens, Byun, dramaturges,

Aujourd’hui, Jean Vigo aurait 90 ans. Il aurait pu réaliser encore 81 films, puisqu’en 4 ans, entre 1930 et 1934, il a fabriqué 4 bombes d’images. Marie Losier étudie la littérature à l’Université de Nanterre et les Beaux Arts à New York avant de réaliser de nombreux portraits avant-gardistes, intimes, poétiques et ludiques de cinéastes, de musiciens et de composi- teurs tels que Alan Vega, Jonas Mekas, Peaches, George Kuchar, Guy Mad- din, Richard Foreman, Tony Conrad, Jackie Raynal et Genesis P-Orridge. Basés sur un lien de confiance et d’amitié permettant toutes les folies et les excentricités, ses films explorent la vie et le travail de ces artistes loin des conventions biographiques ou factuelles pour se concentrer sur le plaisir, les rêves et le quotidien sublimé. Son premier long-métrage The Ballad of Genesis and Lady Jaye dresse avec délicatesse le portrait de Genesis Breyer P-Orridge et de son groupe Psychic TV. Après avoir été présenté dans plus de 280 festivals de cinéma, le film est sorti en salles en 2011 en France, aux Etats Unis, au Canada, en Allemagne et au Mexique et a gagné une dizaine de prix. Régulièrement présentés dans de prestigieux festivals (Berlin, Rotterdam, Tribeca / New York, CPH:DOX / Danemark, Bafici / Argentine, Cinéma du Réel, Hors Pistes, etc.), Ballad et ses autres films sont également souvent projetés dans des musées tels que la Tate Modern (Londres), le MoMA (NYC), le Centre Pompidou, ou encore la Cinémathèque Française (Paris) et le Whitney Museum (NYC). Refermant le chapitre de 21 ans de programmation de films à l’Alliance Française de New York (FIAF/www.fiaf.org) en 2013, elle est au- jourd’hui revenue en Europe et prépare ses deux prochains longs métrages : Casssandro, the exotico !, pour lequel elle a reçu le prestigieux prix The Guggenheim Award et Peaches Goes Bananas. Elle s’est installée à Berlin en résidence au DAAD et séjourne actuellement à Paris. A fighter with lipstick and feathers who has lived all the harshness that comes with that life of abuse for a country and a sport that is deeply machist. Cassandro filled with wit, humor and glitters is today a saint for all and still on the ring, fighting with passion for life, lucha libre and all the excluded of society. Work in progress

Marie Losier’s second feature documentary takes an intimate look at artist and musician Peaches’ playful and intoxicating world both on and off stage. As the temperature never stops rising whenever Peaches performs, the film will inhabit all the heated energy of a dissident of the pop-electronic age who inspires global audiences by breaking the boundaries of gender, form and identity. Theatrical spaces, new fantastical territories, mind bending sets – the Peaches arena is a place where she reignites life, and invites the world to be a little more of this, a little more of that. Peaches undermines gender roles, adopting a comic array of male attributes, and queers her own iconic image as female sex symbol. Peaches is widely recognized as being original, and one of those unique contemporary figures of the antichrist. Peaches is tough. Peaches is tender. Who is Peaches? Work in progress

Felix Kubin est un des leader de la création de la musique électronique, de la radiophonie et la composition électroacoustique. Basé à Hamburg, Felix navigue entre ces trois disciplines comme un électron libre. Félix Kubin vit et met en mouvement son corps comme une participation à la musique concrète, et comme le personnage de Windsor Mc Kay ! Marie Losier et le musicien se sont rencontrés à Berlin pendant la projection de The Ballad of Genesis and Lady Jaye en 2011. La nuit fut longue de danse et de musique partagées. Immédiatement attachés l’un à l’autre, une découverte commune les emmène dans un monde où le corps et l’esprit vivent la musique. Pour Marie Losier la caméra 16 mm est immédiatement l’instrument-language en dialogue avec le génie enchanté de Felix. Cette collaboration magique des deux mondes, met en scène un univers musical faisant appel à l’animation, au dessin, aux comics, un opéra fait de costumes animaliers et de mouvements électroniques à l’image du rythme de Felix et son monde. Selon les chapitres d’un conte de fée, la vie de Felix est racontée, comme les milliers d’atomes et de molécules qui articulent sa musique et son esprit électrode. Tout explose, tout vit, tout est musique, tout est couleur et passe du drame à la vie, du rire aux pleurs, par la danse sans fin de la caméra et l’œil bienveillant de Marie. I am a filmmaker and I have been making film portraits on 16 mm film for a long time, in New York City, where I lived for 22 years. Portraits of artists, musicians, filmmakers, and friends, often all coming from an experimental environment, always on the edge of life and art (Genesis P-Orridge, Tony Conrad, Richard Foreman, The Kuchar Brothers, Alan Vega, Luchadoras sisters...). I spend a very long time, sometimes years with each of them to film their process of art making; our intimacy becomes the center of my films. I work alone with my camera, my microphone and a lot of whimsy.
