Summer Camps 2016

Baurchi

This was a series of seven camps located in southern Moldova (Vishinevka, Alexandr Cuza Voda, Hirtop, & Beshalma) and central Moldova (Budei, Kuizovka, & Sholdaneshti). Leadership team: 31 volunteers Children participation: 523 children Total Cost: $2200 4D’s Grant: $2200

On conducting the seven daily camps, $2200 was spent. The camps were held for 5 – 7 days. Approximately 523 children visited these camps. For each child, 66 cents was spent per day. We thank God and all the donors for the donated funds. About 70 percent (though in some villages more than 80 percent) of the children were from non-believer families. Most children were from poor families who can`t afford to stay in commercial camps. Some children don`t have one parent or both parents and live with grandparents or aunts. Some parents have gone abroad in search of work, and children are left to the mercy of fate. Christian Summer Camp is for them - this is the only opportunity to get healthy fellowship, joy, food, attention from adults and, most importantly, to hear the Good News.

Aims for the project:

 To show the value of Christianity through studying the Bible.  To teach children to communicate with each other (team spirit) and mutual respect.  To show genuine care for the children and to bring them to the Sunday School.

Criteria to evaluate the effectiveness of this project were: The camps were held in rural houses of prayer or in the woods near the village. During the week, the children spent the whole day together for sports and games, crafts, Bible study, and communication. Games were focused on acquiring skills for team work. Special attention was paid to the Bible study. Children learned poems by heart, prayed aloud, and sang Christian songs. Every day, kids came home with a new biblical knowledge. Those who had adults at home, were hurrying to share their new knowledge with them. Thus, through the children attending the camps, their parents or grandparents or other relatives with whom the children live, heard about Christ. Here is the story that one boy`s mother told to the leader of the camp in the village of Kuizovka: “I didn`t want to let my child go to this camp because I knew that our priest doesn`t approve of those who allow their children to go to the Baptist Christian camp. But my son ran away from home. In the evening, he came home and told me something from the Bible about Jesus that I didn`t know. I agreed to let him go to the camp every day. My son was coming and telling us something new and he also said that we should pray with simple words. Also, he asked me for forgiveness for his disobedience. At the last day, I agreed to go to end of the camp to hear the concert which was prepared by our children. I was very excited by what I saw and heard. It`s a pity that I came just the last day. I wish health to our Baptist fellow villagers, that they, during the whole week, took care of my son and other children. Thank you!!!”

In Sholdaneshti, the Christian camp consisted completely of non- believer children, as it`s a new community and not so many people visit it. For Soldaneshti, this project is a great opportunity to positively influence the younger generation. After the camp, the children began to visit a group which was transformed to a Sunday School. The community prays that next year they will be able to organize not one, but three camps in order to cover all the children wishing to spend an amazing week in Bible study and games. It was approximately the same situation in Vishinevka village. The local Baptist Community consists of several people. A young family of volunteers live in this village and develop the Children`s Ministry. Their task is to cultivate the knowledge of Christ to the children from the village and to help them choose the Christian way in their life. After the Children`s camp, part of the children began regularly attending the Sunday School. In the village of Budei, here is what one woman said after the camp: “My name is Mina Ajder. My two children attended this camp. They were looking forward to this week for the whole year. They often asked the Baptist pastor if the Christian camp will hold in summer. They like to play in the teams, to sing Christian songs, to learn Bible verses by heart. The children brought some books and they always ask me to check how they performed the homework. To my shame, I learned more about God from my children than I knew. It`s a good work you are doing for the children in our village. In our village nobody except you brought together children to play with them and feed them.”

Komrat

In the period from June 26- July 1, the church ‘God is love’ from Komrat held the camp for children and teenagers near Chimishliya village. All the church prayed to God and asked for blessings for these children. There were 103 children in the camp from 8-14 years old and 15 volunteers. Children were brought from 4 settlements: Komrat, Budjak, Tomai, and Ferapontievka. Children enjoyed such occupations as Bible lessons, crafts, worship, sports activities and many other camp games and programs. This year, the program of the camp was very intense. There were a lot of games, communication, services, and prayers. The main purpose of the camp was that children and teenagers in this period of life could understand what is most important in life, and how to trust in God, to learn to pray, and to read the Bible at this age. Each child received a book as a gift. The camp was held under the motto “God cares when children are sad.” The Bible lessons were designed with the aim to tell children that God loves them and takes care of them, especially when they meet with difficulties. Children were taught to praise God in songs, with works, and with words. They participated in creative competitions with a great enjoyment. And at the evening services, they prepared and showed their performances. At the Bible lessons, the children listened attentively to the Bible stories, and learned verses from the Bible by heart. We had one special day at the camp – it was parent`s day. Children, with their parents, participated in the camp life – games, contests, and singing songs. The most touching moment was the goodbye evening at the fire where nobody could constrain the tears. All the children,

their parents, and the team thanked God for the time they spent in this camp. They had a great desire to come back again next year.

Aims for the project:

 To teach children to understand what is most important in life.  To trust in God.  To learn to pray.  To introduce children to God.  To obey their parents and God.

Criteria to evaluate the effectiveness of this project were: Throughout the camp, before going to bed, we shared impressions about the day, prayed, thanked God for everything He gave us, and told each other pleasant words. Natalia shared her impressions: “I learned to trust God in difficulties. When we came back from the camp, girls were singing songs they learned at the camp, and repeating performances that our leaders showed us. They had a desire to meet again.” Throughout the week, preachers whose hearts are especially open to children, spoke to the children. Each of them tried to sanctify the theme of the camp from different directions and to convey simple but very important truths. One spoke about how important it is to keep our heart in purity. Another, about the constant temptations in this world and to be the winner in these temptations. And that we should have a personal relationship with God. Someone talked PO Box 120 - Monument, CO 80132 - www.4DMinistries.org

about the power of our soul, and how it affects our behavior and our life, and how important it is for God`s word to be the main and constant source. Thanks to prayer, and the donations of our brothers and sisters, the children`s camp was a great success, having left bright impressions on adults and children. At the end of the camp, the children were called to repentance, and the word of God was sown in the hearts of children. Care, attention, and the love of Christ will bear fruit in the life of every child in due time.

I was born in a Christian family. In my childhood, I was always taken to church. Practically I grew up in the church. I have heard a lot about repenting and knew that sinners who smoke and drink a lot also need God. When I heard a lot of testimonies and preaching here in the camp, I realized that I am a sinner as each of us. In the last evening I accepted Jesus into my heart. And now I am sure that I am saved.”

And last evening I accepted Christ into my heart. Praise the Lord.”

Another camper said: “My name is Emanuel and I am from Vadu-lui-Isak. I am 16. I was born in a Christian family. I always thought that if my parents are good, give me a good education, it`s enough to be saved. But when I spent my vacation in this camp, I found out that it’s not enough. Each of us should invite Jesus into our hearts and to follow Him all our life. And I gave my life to Christ.”

Yet another said: “My name is Dan, I am 17. I was born in non-believer family. My mother began to come to church, after a while she was baptized. This summer my father was baptized. When I was there, I was in such a state that every preacher was talking about me. When we were invited to come forward to accept Christ, I noticed that my brother is coming forward to repent and I decided to go with him. And now each of member in my family is a Christian.”

In the evenings, all the camp was gathered on the evening service, all the services always were very interesting, the children proved themselves as good actors in performances – they liked to do it, glorified God, prayed. Every day we gave away different prizes such as mp3 players, headphones, flash drives, or flashlights. Every day the nominations were different, for example

Everybody liked the five meals a day because it was tasty and varied. Every day we had sausage, cheese, meat, fish, and butter. Aims for the project:

 To attract the attention of the children to a healthy lifestyle.  To teach the children proper relationships with their peers.  To impart a love to work.  To teach children to set goals and to achieve them.  To show children what a real friendship is.  To bring children to Christ.

Criteria to evaluate the effectiveness of this project were: The last evening of the camp, we decided to make a farewell fire. The team had prayed hard for this evening because it was when we wanted to call youth for repentance and receiving Jesus Christ into their hearts. The fire was very high, the whole camp was sitting around the fire, and the atmosphere felt like family. We all praised God with a guitar, each leader went to the center telling the wishes to the children, one told testimonies from his personal life of how he came to know God, and at the end, the last leader called everyone to come to repentance. He explained that following God is not an easy way, that we will have different experiences, difficulties, testing; but this way will never disappoint because God Himself will always be with you and He will bless your life and help you to go this way with the victory until the end of your days. We thank the Holy Spirit because that evening He made His work. At the beginning, there was one guy who came forward and we leaders were very glad that there was a soul who came to Christ, but several minutes later, we saw a lot of guys and girls who prayed with a prayer of repentance. After a prayer, we embraced them all and congratulated them and finished the evening praising God – praising the Lord for this miracle which He has made. Thirteen children confessed before God that evening. Before our departure, some cried because they didn`t want to leave. Everybody liked the camp a lot and each of them was filled with pleasure and friendship. Analyzing the work accomplished in the camp, we (with our

Today, we continue the daily work with these children. They are still coming to the training and to the spiritual communication. Many children tell that they have begun to read the Bible, to pray at home, and also to ask a lot of questions from the Bible. Some who smoked and used bad words, now tries not to smoke and not to swear, which made us very happy. God through the Holy Spirit continues His work in them. Our team expresses a huge gratitude to you as donors of this camp. Your financial aid has borne fruits for God`s Kingdom. We always remember you in our prayers, we wish you God`s blessings and we ask you to continue to support us and to pray for our service in Vulkaneshty.
