VolleyWorld 1 THE ONGOING DIALOGUE WITH THE CONFEDERATION PRESIDENTS AND WITH THEIR STAFF REPRESENTS A GROWING ENRICHMENT FOR THE FIVB The Roots of Development EDITORIAL tarting with this issue of VolleyWorld, there will be two pages devoted to the Confederations, in keeping with the indications emerging from the most recent Smeeting of the Press Commission and that of the Confederation Press Officers. If they so desire, the five organizations that participate in FIVB activities may give even broader space to stories about their players, their organizations, and the men and women who every day devote a sizeable part of their time and resources to our sport. Although it may seem like a small step, this is just the latest indication of the direction I have decided to take since becoming President: Greater influence of the Confederations not only on an organizational level, but also in terms of communications and planning of activities. The ongoing dialogue with the Confederation Presidents and with their staffs represents a growing enrichment for the FIVB, which through its projects is demonstrating that it has entered a new era after the robust consolidation of our sport led by Dr. Rubén Acosta’s presidency. Greater attention to the life and activities of the National Federations, their championships, and their developmental needs: This is the trend of the FIVB that we want to establish going ahead and which must be confirmed by the next Congress to be held in Roma before the Men’s World Championship. This will be an important Congress, about which we will have more to say in the upcoming issues of this magazine. We will be laying the foundations for our work, a series of paths already taken, which the next Presidency starting in 2012 will have to ratify and improve upon. Signs of appreciation are already rolling in, and I would like to cite in first place that coming from the IOC and signed by its President, Jacques Rogge. His compliments concerning our new development projects represent a stamp of approval for our organization of which I am particularly proud. M.
