  • The Jensen Interceptor: Chrysler-Powered British Luxury
The Jensen Interceptor: Chrysler- Powered British Luxury Allan and Richard Jensen's auto business was started before World War II, which interrupted production until 1950, when their first Interceptor was made. At the time, they made Austin bodies under contract, and the first Interceptor resembled an Austin A40 (the Jensens built bodies for a string of cars that included the Volvo P1800, Sunbeam Tiger, and Austin-Healey.) The first Interceptor used a 4 liter Austin in-line six, and was produced in small numbers for over a decade. Jensen also used Nash Twin-Ignition Eight engines for a time, and the 1962 C-V8 used a Chrysler 361 B-block engine. A number of these early Jensens made their way to the US before and after World War II. The next version kept the basic C-V8 chassis, but changed styling. Initially, an in-house convertible design was planned, but chief engineer Kevin Beattie argued for an Italian flavor. Proposals were taken from different design houses, with Carozzeria Touring winning out with a fastback coupe incorporating a rounded tail, but that house was unable to finalize the design. Vignale, instead, provided prototype and initial production bodies, rendered in steel, on CV-8 chassis sent to them by Jensen. Turnaround was quick - about four months - so the new Interceptors could be shown in London in October 1966. Jensen later used the jigs and tools, which were sent by Vignale to the West Bromwich factory. The body had two doors, a low beltline, and fishbowl rear glass in a handsome 2+2 design.

  • Uniform and Sportswear
Uniform and sportswear from September 2020 Following feedback from students and parents, and to provide a contemporary new design, we have updated some elements of our uniform and sportswear. Changes to the school uniform are relatively minor and involve adjustments to the style of the kilt, jacket, jumper and Sixth Form suit to allow for better fit and design. There are more significant changes to sports kit allowing students to enjoy representing the school with these new styles. From June 2020, the only new items available to buy will be the uniform and sportswear outlined in this booklet. Students joining the school in September 2020 must only wear this new uniform and sportswear. Other students will be able to continue to wear existing uniform until September 2021. After September 2021 all students will be expected to have the updated uniform and sportswear. Buying uniform and sportswear From June 2020, all branded uniform and sportswear will only be available to buy from schoolblazer.com. The current prices are listed on its website. School Blazer will start selling Woldingham School uniform from 26 June 2020. The school uniform shop is now closed and no new uniform can be bought from the school. Secondhand uniform sales will continue from the autumn term 2020 onwards but will only sell current uniform and kit. We will not sell any secondhand uniform through the school that does not conform to the uniform and kit in this booklet. Some unbranded elements of our school uniform can be bought from School Blazer or other retailers. These are clearly marked in this booklet and in the uniform checklist attached.

  • 2008 Dodge Avenger Product Heritage
Contact: Brandt Rosenbusch 2008 Dodge Avenger Product Heritage The First Avenger Plans for the first car to carry the Avenger name were initiated by the Rootes Group (later to become Chrysler Europe) in England in 1963. Intended to replace Rootes’ best-selling vehicle of the time, the Hillman Minx, the project was delayed by funding issues; another car, the Arrow, would become the replacement for the Minx. Still, Rootes executives saw the need for a smaller car, and consideration of what they would call the “B-Car” began in earnest in November 1965. It would prove to be the first and last car developed by Rootes, following its 1967 takeover by Chrysler Corporation. Said to have drawn its inspiration from Detroit, the new car featured a readily identifiable “semi-fastback” design that would become its trademark. Much consideration was given to the needs of female customers; fashion consultants were employed during the design phase. The Hillman Avenger would feature a four-link rear suspension in place of traditional leaf springs, standard front anti-roll bars and a selection of four inline-four cylinder engines. The Hillman Avenger was introduced in February 1970 to popular acclaim. This B-class vehicle, built in sedan and wagon versions to compete with the Austin 1300, Ford Escort, Vauxhall Viva and other small cars, was designed to be the basic no-frills Hillman, with a four-speed manual gearbox an all-iron overhead valve engine. Four-door saloons were built first, followed by two-door saloons and five-door “estate” models. Many variations of the basic Avenger appeared over the years.
