The recording sessions were lengthy and chaotic, and on completion in 1974 Spector himself shelved the release for 12 months, only to find the album was largely met with indifference by the music establishment at the time. The album was the band's first to be produced by Phil Spector, though he had offered the band his assistance earlier in their career. With Spector fully producing the album, it was the first release that excluded original member Tommy Ramone, who had left the band in 1978 but had produced their previous album Road to Ruin . Spector used more advanced standards of engineering, such as high-quality overdubbing and echo chambers. These painstaking methods caused conflict between the band and Spector, since the Ramones were accustomed to a quicker recording process. Spector emphasized the production value as well, working with a budget of around $200,000, far exceeding their earlier album sessions. Rock 'n' Roll is the sixth studio album by English musician John Lennon. Released in 1975, it is an album of late 1950s and early 1960s songs as covered by Lennon. Recording the album was problematic and spanned an entire year: Phil Spector produced sessions in October 1973 at A&M Studios, and Lennon produced sessions in October 1974 at the Record Plant (East). Lennon was being sued by Morris Levy over copyright infringement of one line in his song "Come Together". As part of an agreement, Lennon had to include three Levy-owned songs on Rock 'n' Roll . Spector disappeared with the session recordings and was subsequently involved in a motor accident, leaving the album's tracks unrecoverable until the beginning of the Walls and Bridges sessions. With Walls and Bridges coming out first, featuring one Levy-owned song, Levy sued Lennon expecting to see Lennon's Rock 'n' Roll album. The Wall of Sound is a music production formula developed by American record producer Phil Spector at Gold Star Studios, in the 1960s, with assistance from engineer Larry Levine and the conglomerate of session musicians later known as "the Wrecking Crew". The intention was to exploit the possibilities of studio recording to create an unusually dense orchestral aesthetic that came across well through radios and jukeboxes of the era. Spector explained in 1964: "I was looking for a sound, a sound so strong that if the material was not the greatest, the sound would carry the record. It was a case of augmenting, augmenting. It all fit together like a jigsaw." Warner-Spector Records was a record label formed on October 12, 1974 as an outlet for Phil Spector productions by Warner Bros. Records. The label lasted for three years. Except for a new single by Cher, "A Woman's Story", and a Dion album, Born to Be with You , which was released only in the United Kingdom, all the releases on Warner-Spector were reissues of product from Philles Records, the label Phil Spector had co-founded in 1962. Death of a Ladies' Man is the fifth studio album by Leonard Cohen, produced and co-written by Phil Spector. The album was in some ways a departure from Cohen's typical minimalist style by using Spector's Wall of Sound recording method, which included ornate arrangements and multiple tracks of instrument overdubs. The album was originally released in the US by Warner Bros., and on CD and the rest of the world by Cohen's long-time label, . Back to Mono (1958–1969) is a box set compilation of the recorded work of record producer Phil Spector, through the 1960s, released in 1991 by ABKCO as #7118-2. The first track, "To Know Him Is to Love Him," released in 1958, features Spector performing as part of the group the Teddy Bears. Initially a vinyl album-sized package, the box contained a booklet with photographs, complete song lyrics, discographical information, and a reproduction of the essay on Spector by Tom Wolfe, "The First Tycoon of Teen." The package also contained a small, round, red "Back to Mono" pin. Mustard is the second solo album by English musician Roy Wood, released in December 1975 by Jet Records. The album was recorded at De Lane Lea Studios and Phonogram Studios, although a dispute at one of the studios delayed the release of the album. Produced and entirely performed by Wood, who also designed the album artwork, Mustard was a departure from his previous solo album Boulders (1973), with a more ambitious approach and denser, more layered production, again mixing a number of musical styles. Annie Haslam and Phil Everly contributed guest vocals to the album, while Wood's influences on the record included the Andrew Sisters, the Beach Boys and Led Zeppelin. " Stand by Your Side " is a song recorded by Canadian recording artist Celine Dion, for her eight English studio album, One Heart (2003). It was written by Paul Barry, Mark Taylor, and produced by Taylor and Humberto Gatica. The moving ballad sees Dion promising to someone who has been deeply wounded that she will comfort and support it. It was released on 15 September 2003 as the third single from the album, in the United States. "Stand by Your Side" reached number 17 on the US Hot Adult Contemporary Tracks. Harvey Phillip Spector was an American record producer, musician, and songwriter known for his innovative recording practices and entrepreneurship in the 1960s, followed decades later by his trial and conviction for murder in the 2000s. Spector developed the Wall of Sound, a music production formula he described as a Wagnerian approach to rock and roll. He is regarded as one of the most influential figures in history and as the first auteur of the music industry for the unprecedented control he had over every phase of the recording process. In 2009, after spending three decades in semi-retirement, he was convicted for the 2003 murder of the actress Lana Clarkson and sentenced to 19 years to life in prison. Short Cut Draw Blood is the third studio album by the British musician Jim Capaldi, released by in 1975. It marked a major turning point in Capaldi's career: it was his first album recorded after the breakup of Traffic, and more importantly it was his commercial breakthrough. While Capaldi's first two solo albums had been moderately successful in the United States, Short Cut Draw Blood entered the charts in several other countries for the first time. This was particularly evident in his native United Kingdom; the single "It's All Up to You" at number 27, released a year before the album, became his first top 40 hit there, only to be overshadowed the following year by his cover of "Love Hurts", which went all the way to number 4. Shaun Cassidy is the first solo album from Shaun Cassidy. The eponymous album was first released in 1976 in Europe and Australia, where he had top-ten hits with "Morning Girl" and "That's Rock 'n' Roll". It was not until the release of a cover version of The Crystals' song, "Da Doo Ron Ron", that Cassidy's international success carried over into the United States. The single became a number-one Billboard hit for Cassidy and launched his career as a pop musician and in the U.S. (a)spera is the fourth studio album by the American singer-songwriter Mirah, released on March 10, 2009. Vous souvenez-vous de mes propos, sur les deux précédentes chroniques (Cf. Howling Will et Straight Liner) ? Get Up! Wake Up! Make Up! et Just My Heart n’auraient pas démérité sur un album comme When Seconds Count de vous-savez-qui ! Ceci dit, Born To Be Hard n’est pas exempt d’instants musclés. Born Free. The last time I saw Born Free must have been when I was 8 years old. I've heard the film's song (as sung by Matt Munro) countless times since then, whether in parodied television commercials, piped-in mall music, or the easy listening station that the dentist plays in his office. Perhaps in a culture as deeply rooted in the notion of "catchy theme songs" as ours is, there are worse forms of immortalizationwith company like Maurice Jarre's "Lara's Theme" for Dr. Zhivago , and the Godfather waltz. (Though even as that particular musical Valhalla has been as recently joined by James Horner's (in)famous Titanic love-ballad "My Heart Will Go On", the listener may determine whether this is sublime or otherwise. My point is this: sometimes the song gets in the way. A song will so deeply captivate the appeal of the public that sometimes the listeners don't hear anything else. Perhaps that sells records, yes, (good thing!) but in so many cases, what is easily forgotten is the music that is overshadowed by a single 3 minute track. With John Barry's Born Free I, too, had forgotten how wonderful that music can be. The James Bond legacy not to be disregarded, John Barry's work outside the popular action-adventure franchise is quite remarkable in its' own right. FSM's latest release of Born Free allows fans to experience the richness of Barry's score, which is alternately playful, pastoral, haunting and suspenseful, with a touch of African flavor, and the easily gushing romantic style that is a John Barry trademark. Despite the title song, which may be inextricably associated as a pop hit of the 1960's, Barry's score never comes off as "dated", which should make this an easily accessible score for even the most discerning of long-time listeners, as well as film-score newcomers. FSM has done an excellent job with this release, and the album is a worthy addition to any music library, film score or otherwise. Make up born to be hard album download. released April 2, 2021.
