Field Study: the Venice Biennale
In Salisbury this 4 credit Info Night: October 1, at 6:30 pm in TETC 378 course meets once a week in Spring 2015, and at the Course Description: The Venetian Art and the Venice Biennale program focuses on the visual arts in Venice from its creation as a beginning of summer we will Republic in the middle ages through its role as host of an international Biennale, a massive international travel to Italy for two weeks. contemporary art exhibition that includes works of art created by over 158 artists from more than 88 countries. The course will also cover the history of Venetian glass making during the Renaissance, and its radical reshaping of glassmaking processes and styles. We will examine the influence of Italian glassmakers on Estimated Program Fee: contemporary glass art and the role of glass art at the Biennale. The course will include a hands-on glass $3900 workshop component. The course is an excellent complement to any BA or BFA Art major. There are no Includes: academic prerequisites and the program is also an excellent opportunity for any student from any major to Airfare and local learn more about the history of art in the western tradition. • Minimum GPA 2.75 transportation • ART 399 meets General Education Group IIIA or IIIC
