Dwight School Alumnus, #1 U.S. Senior Men’s Foil Fencer Race Imboden ’11, Goes for Olympic Gold

NEW YORK, NY, July 27, 2012: Today, Team USA fencer Race Imboden, 2011 graduate of Dwight School, will begin living his Olympic dream. Ranked #1 in the Senior Men’s Foil USA Division, he is currently #5 in the world.

Mr. Imboden was named to the U.S. Olympic Fencing Team before his 19th birthday in April (https://www.multivu.com/mnr/55749-race-imboden-dwight-school-alumnus-united-states-olympic- fencing-team).

In October 2011, he finished in the top eight at the World Championships in Catania. In January 2012, Mr. Imboden captured an unprecedented bronze medal at the prestigious Challenge International de World Cup; won his second World Cup bronze at the SK Trophée in ; and in June, captured his second consecutive Pan American Zonal Championship gold medal in Cancun, along with the Men’s Foil team gold.

“Words cannot express how excited I am to be competing, especially in London because my mother is from England. For ten years, I have been working toward this goal. It will finally become real when I walk alongside my teammates tonight in the opening ceremonies. I owe an enormous debt to my parents for their amazing support and sacrifice. I’m also grateful to Dwight, which allowed me the time and flexibility to train and compete while a high school student,” said Mr. Imboden.
