“Get Ready for the Grand

June 20, 21, & 22, 2015

Our Communion Practice The Lord’s Supper is a fellowship meal. In this meal Jesus expresses his fellowship with us by giving us his body and blood for the forgiveness of sins. In this meal we also express our fellowship with each other, that is, that we are united in a common confession of faith. We at Emanuel want everyone to enjoy this fellowship meal. However, we cannot ask someone to express agreement with us until we give that person an opportunity to discover what we teach. That is why we schedule frequent Life With God classes to provide an overview of our teachings. Please ask one of our pastors for the date when the next class begins. If you are a member of Emanuel or a member of a WELS or ELS congregation, we invite you to express our common confession by communing with us. You may wish to use the “Personal Preparation for Holy Communion” on page 156 of Christian Worship to examine yourself. Please register your intent to commune as a member or guest by filling out the Friendship Register, which is located at the end of the pew.

Non-Alcoholic Communion Wine Now Available We now offer non-alcoholic white communion wine. You will find it in the center of the communion trays. Following our practice of offering gluten free wafers, if you need to receive non-alcoholic communion wine, please ask the person serving the wine. The white non-alcoholic communion wine is intended only for people who, because of medical or conscience reasons are unable to receive alcohol. We hope this allows more members to receive the blessings of Holy Communion. Please pass this information on to any member you know who can benefit from our new Communion practice.

Large Print Hymnals Large-print copies of the service are available for anyone in need – please ask an usher for a copy.

Wheelchair Area For your convenience, there are two areas set aside to accommodate members with wheelchairs, walkers, or other special space needs. Ushers are available to assist you to the following locations:  Halfway down the middle and side isles on the lectern side of church, there is a pew with wheelchair space on either end.  In the right half of the front row, also on the lectern side, there is a larger area with wheelchair space.

Parent Room Jesus said, “Let the little children come to me.” We love children and encourage their worship. Please don’t feel embarrassed if your child is restless during the service. You are among caring people who understand. If you feel that your children are distracting others from worship, you may take them to the entryway or a parent’s room is available. There is a closed-circuit TV in the room to watch & listen to the service. An usher can assist you in locating this room, also called the “Bible Class Room”.

Attention Hearing Impaired Members Special receivers are available to help you hear the service. Ask one of our ushers for a receiver and return it to an usher after the service.

Contact Information for the Executive Director If you have any questions, comments, or suggestions, you can put a note in my mailbox in the narthex (located next to the confirmation picture boards), call me at 982-3943, or email [email protected]

Announcements

Call Returned Dear Congregation of Emanuel Lutheran; After weeks of deliberation and prayer, and more than a few decisions and reversals, I have decided to return the call to serve as a teacher. I pray that you are able to fill the vacancy left by this decision. I am certain you will continue to prosper under your current faculty. I thank you very much for the consideration. I feel that while I found Emanuel Lutheran to be a very good school I am more needed here to help St. Stephen’s Lutheran get to where Emanuel Lutheran is now. I thank you for any prayers you have said for me during this time of deliberation and I pray for your school’s continued success in spreading the Gospel message. God’s Blessings, Jared R Brennan 5 Page

**UPDATED INFORMATION**

Set your minds on things above, not on earthly things. For you died, and your life is now hidden with Christ in God. (Colossians 3:1-3)

Due to a wide range of circumstances, the Rally has been revamped to be more of a retreat. Youth groups from throughout the district are being invited to have a far more personal and hopefully meaningful time with one another and with God.

When you come, you will enjoy God’s Word, physical and mental individual and team challenges. We will have devotions each morning and evening with open discussions on how God’s Word applies to you today, play games on their acres of campus such as volleyball, disc golf, and , bonfires, as well as swim, canoe, and kayak in their lake! It will absolutely be an experience you will never forget!

 The Hidden Retreat is for teens entering grades 9-12 or just finished with 12th grade.  The Hidden Retreat will be held July 15-18, 2015.
