Dear Skating Director or Team Coach,

Line Creek Ice Arena & Line Creek are proud to invite you to participate in The ISI District 9 Championships / City of Fountains Fall Fling 2018 to be held November 3, 2018 at Line Creek Ice Arena in Kansas City Missouri.

If necessary, we will hold events on Sunday morning, November 4th. These events will be scheduled in conjunction with the Best of the Midwest Championships in order to allow skaters time to prepare for their synchro events at the conclusion of their Fall Fling events.

***This year for all entries we will be using EntryEeze online registration only. Register on line at lcfigureskating.com.

All music will be downloaded to be played for all events. Please email your music in an mp3 file to [email protected] 2 weeks prior to the competition or download it through EntryEeze. If you are unable to email the file, we will accept CD’s at skater registration the day of the competition. Please bring a backup CD as well

Enclosed you will find a competition packet to duplicate and post as soon as possible. The deadline for on line entries is October 4, 2018

EVENT RULES

ENTRY DEADLINE: The ONLINE ENTRY DEADLINE IS OCTOBER 4, 2018

ENTRY FORMS AND FEES: Fees for a single ISI entry are $48.00 for the first event and $20.00 for each additional event. ISI Team events are $22.00 per skater. There is an additional administrative fee of $3.00 for all skater/team entries.

The on line registration deadline is October 4, 2018. Late entries will be accepted at the discretion of the Competition Director, and if accepted, will be charged a $25.00 late fee. False information will result in disqualification of the skater. Events are offered to all ages - Tots through Adult

THERE WILL BE NO REFUNDS

FACILITY: Line Creek Ice Arena is located in Kansas City Missouri within Frank Vaydik Park. The rink dimensions are 185’X 85’. The door opening for props measures 36” wide. Skaters will have to lift their props approximately 2 inches to place them on the ice.

ELIGIBILITY RULES:

I. This competition is open to all current individual members of ISI who are competing at the test level registered with ISI on or before October 4, 2018 II. Members of USFS are eligible to participate as stated in the ISI-USFS Joint Statements of Policy. USFS members must also be current members of ISI and must have passed the ISI equivalent of their highest USFS test passed.

PERFORMANCE RULES: Please refer to the current edition of the ISI Handbook & the current ISI Competition Rule Revisions

The music for all interpretive events will be provided by Line Creek Ice Arena. Skaters will hear the music 3 times prior to performing. Skaters will perform and will be judged individually as they hear the music for the 4th time.

SCHEDULE: A schedule of events will be mailed to each participating team 2 weeks prior to the competition. Information will also be available at lcfigureskating.com

CHECK IN: All competitors should arrive at the rink 60 minutes before the scheduled time of their warm up. The competition may run ahead of schedule to compensate for unexpected problems which may occur as the competition progresses.

MUSIC: Music for dance and interpretive events will be provided by Line Creek.

ALL OTHER MUSIC SHOULD BE DOWNLOADED THROUGH ENTRYEEZE OR EMAILED TO [email protected] IN AN mp3 FILE. WE WILL BE DOWNLOADING ALL MUSIC TO BE PLAYED. PLEASE HAVE A BACKUP CD AVAILABLE. IF YOU ARE UNABLE TO EMAIL YOUR MUSIC, WE WILL ALSO ACCEPT CD’S.

COMPETITION AREA: During the competition there will be a specific competitor’s area for competitors and coaches only.

COACHES AND JUDGES INFORMATION: Each rink having skaters participate in ISI events must provide at least one certified judge for each 10 ISI skaters entered. Judges information may be emailed to [email protected]

AWARDS: Awards will be presented for 1st – 6th places.

HOTELS: There are several hotels in the Kansas City International airport area. All of these are approximately 10-15 minutes from Line Creek.

LCFSC is a member of the Mid-West Figure Skating Council and participates in the MWFSC Championship Series.

SERIES INFORMATION: 2018 Mid-West Figure Skating Council Championship Series The Mid- West Figure Skating Council is again offering the Mid-West Council Championship Series. Skaters who enter the series will receive points for placement in any Singles, Pairs, or Dance event at each of the included series competitions. At the end of the season, the skaters earning the highest points will receive awards from the Council. The club with the most skater accumulated points will receive the travelling Championship Trophy for that year. New this year, the coach with the most skaters entered in series competitions wins PSA dollars to use towards their coaching education. Skaters can enter the series by paying the $5 entry fee along with their entry to the first series competition that the skater enters or by registering on the Council website. Skaters can be either Standard or Learn to Skate USA competitors, but they must be a member of a USFS club

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS: HOW DO I ENTER THE SERIES? Go to the Council website at MWFSC.org and complete the PayPal signup form on the Competitions page.

WHAT INFORMATION IS NEEDED AND WHAT DOES IT COST TO ENTER? There is an annual $5 registration fee for the series season. We must have the skater’s name, USFS # / ISI #, club, and skating level to accurately accumulate points for the year.

WHAT IS THE DEADLINE TO SIGN UP? Skaters can enroll anytime between March 1 and November 4, 2018. Skaters will receive points for any events entered no matter when they enrolled.

WHO KEEPS MY POINTS AND HOW WILL I KNOW HOW MANY POINTS I HAVE? Our accountant will tabulate points as the season progresses. Standings will be posted on the Council website at MWFSC.org shortly after each competition. It is the responsibility of each skater to verify the accuracy of the points and to bring any discrepancies to the attention of the MWFSC.

WHAT HAPPENS TO MY POINTS IF I CHANGE THE LEVEL I SKATE DURING THE SEASON? Your points stay with you if you change levels and will continue to accumulate at your new level. Solo Compulsory Maneuvers

Solo Compulsories will be done in a program format. Connecting steps are limited and are not judged. Elements may be performed in any order and may only be attempted once. No additional elements are allowed. All levels may utilize full ice. Skaters who have passed only the OPEN FREESTYLE TESTS must compete in the solo compulsory event levels as follows: Bronze = Freestyle 3 elements, Silver = Freestyle 5 elements, Gold = Freestyle 7 elements, Platinum = Can choose any Freestyle 8-10 level.

4 Person Jump & Spin Team Event

Skater #1 from each team performs maneuver #1 two times, then Skater #2 from each team performs maneuver #2 two times and so on. The best attempt for each skater is scored. In the event that one team member cannot participate, substitutions are not allowed however another team member may attempt two of the required maneuvers. There is no music for this event.

Skaters should enter the ice together and stop. Skater #1 begins and performs their choice of the required Jump below two times. After they finish, Skater #2 begins and performs their choice of the required Spin two times. Only the best attempt is scored. There is no credit given for the difficulty of the maneuver performed – only for the technical accuracy of the maneuvers.
