1. Introduction

The Department of Economics is one among Five Post-Graduate Departments first started by Late Sri Narasingha Padhi during his tenure as Principal. Our First Head of the Department Late Prof. Dr. T.Srinivas Raghavan, the prominent academician and Economist not only started the P.G. Department but also selected scholars like Prof. Dr. Prahallad Panda and Prof. Dr. Raghunath Padhisharma to join the faculty who later retired as Professors and Head of the Department of University.

8. Seminar Activities

The P.G.Department of Economics has been organizing Seminars as a part of its regular curricular activity. The members of the Department present papers on current burning topics to encourage students of the department. UG, PG as well as M.Phil. scholars take active part in the discussionsand also present papers on various topics. The Department has taken every care to expand the knowledge of the students of the department beyond the course curriculum of their classes.

1. He has secured First Class First Position (Gold Medallist) in M.A.(Economics) under Berhampur University in year 1980.

2. He is a Regular Academic Counsellor of IGNOU under programmes like MBA, MEC, MARD and PGDRD. He is also the Resource Person of Berhampur University for Distance Education.

3. He has guided 18 M.Phil. Scholars for preparation of their dissertation work for completion of their degree.

4. He has guided a number of PGDRD, MARD & MEC Learners of IGNOU for preparation of their Project Reports for completion of their Programme.
