Essex Wildlife Trust is the county’s leading conservation charity. We have more than 37,000 members, manage and protect over 8,400 acres of land on 87 nature reserves and 2 nature parks and run 11 visitor centres. The aim of is to Protect Wildlife for the Future and for the People of Essex. It is supported financially by members, local businesses and grant making organisations. It is one of the largest of the 47 county wildlife trusts that work together throughout the British Isles as The Wildlife Trusts.

Fingringhoe Wick is a stunning nature reserve overlooking the , in this role we are looking for a person that can work within our visitor centre, a small but often busy, reactive environment to provide a fist class welcome to all our visitors: whether that is telling a family about the reserve, talking about membership, selling retail products or serving tea and cake! The ideal candidate will be a people person that works well on their own, who can be flexible to work across these different areas as well getting involved with any other front of house tasks that arise, including cleaning and stock checking. The role require working closely with existing staff members and a team of volunteers.

Job Title: Catering and Centre Assistant

Location: Fingringhoe Wick Visitor Centre

Reports to: Site Manager

Job Purpose: To support the team in the efficient and profitable running of the Centre and Cafe ensuring a high quality and engaging visitor experience.

Responsibility Areas and Key Activities

Service Delivery Ensure the Visitor Centre is welcoming and clean a pleasant and inspiring place to visit. Ensure visitors receive a high quality and inspiring retail offer Ensure administration supports the smooth running of the centre. Provide excellent customer service and care from all centre staff and volunteers To support a high quality catering offer to maximise the customer experience

People Work as part of a close knit team. Deal with customer enquiries or complaints in an efficient and professional manner. To ensure the centre maximises opportunities to recruit new EWT members and increase levels of donations.

Communication Communicating with visitors on daily basis.

Planning To ensure all financial activities related to the visitor centre are carried out to a high standard and to the required time scales Ensure accurate completion of centre records in accordance with EWT centre procedure

Problem Solving/ Innovation Respond and efficiently resolve problems as they arise

PERSON SPECIFICATION

Specialist knowledge and experience: 1. Experience of working in a retail/catering or Visitor Centre environment. 2. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, 3. Experience or understanding of working with volunteers 2 4. Experience of providing good customer service. 5. Ideally use of EPOS system

6. Knowledge of /or interest in wildlife and an interest in working for a charity which is determined to protect wildlife for the future and for the people of Essex.
