Super Villain Mode SUPER VILLAIN MODE Super Villain Mode can be used with most classic elements, though a couple special rules must apply: • Any effect that allows the Villain to play an additional faceup Master Plan card (outside the Master Plan card they played on their normal turn) only allows the Super Villain to add a facedown Master Plan card in the Storyline instead. • The End of Turn effect of Stark Labs and Hala is changed to the same as the Sentinel Space Station: You may discard 1 card from your hand to the bottom of your deck to swap a card from your hand with one of your faceup cards in the Storyline. Below you have a listing of the Action tokens Heroes start with when facing the classic Villains in Super Villain Mode, as well as any special rules required, and indications of which are not compatible with Super Villain Mode. ALL-NEW CAPTAIN AMERICA #5! STEVE ROGERS WAS DRAINED OF THE SUPER-SOLDIER SERUM THAT KEPT HIM YOUNG AND STRONG, CAUSING HIM TO AGE RAPIDLY. NO LONGER ABLE TO WIELD THE SHIELD, STEVE PASSED THE MANTLE OF CAPTAIN AMERICA TO LONGTIME FRIEND AND COLLEAGUE SAM WILSON, A.K.A. THE FALCON. NOW SAM FIGHTS THE FORCES OF TYRANNY AND OPPRESSION AS CAPTAIN AMERICA WITH IAN ROGERS, STEVE’S ADOPTED SON FROM DIMENSION Z, AT HIS SIDE AS NOMAD. TOGETHER THEY INFILTRATED A HYDRA FORTRESS TO SAVE A CHILD PRISONER WITH A DOOMSDAY WEAPON IN HIS BLOOD. UNFORTUNATELY, THE CHILD WAS NOT AS INNOCENT AS THEY’D THOUGHT. TURNING ON HIS WOULD-BE RESCUERS, HE SHOT CAP AND WATCHED AS BARON ZEMO CUT NOMAD’S THROAT! MISTY KNIGHT INFORMED SAM THAT HYDRA’S INFLUENCE HAD SPREAD FARTHER THAN ANYONE REALIZED. HYDRA’S LEADERS HAD MULTIPLE PLANS IN PLACE TO USE THE CHILD’S BLOOD AS A BIOWEAPON TO STERILIZE POPULATIONS OF “UNDESIRABLES.” SAM FOILED TWO PLOTS, BUT WAS TOO LATE TO STOP BARON ZEMO FROM SENDING THE BOY TO DUMP A CLOUD OF INFECTED FLEAS OVER FLORIDA! The Lethal Legion and the Black Order have arrived on Earth to fight for cosmic objects called Pyramoids, which are wreaking elemental havoc on their surroundings. Most of the world’s heroes and villains have been trapped in a mysterious stasis, leaving behind only a handful of Avengers as the planet’s last line of defense. When Pyramoids landed in Rome and Peru, the remaining Avengers split into teams to investigate, but the battle has already claimed several of them, and Black Dwarf beat the Rome team to the first Pyramoid. After the heroes in Rome saw their Pyramoid inexplicably annihilate Black Dwarf, they sent Lightning to Peru to warn the other team of the danger, but he was too late--the Human Torch had already touched the second Pyramoid… WRITERS Al Ewing, Jim Zub & Mark Waid ARTIST Kim Jacinto Color Artist David Curiel Letterer VC’s Cory Petit CoVER Mark Brooks VARIANT COVERS Editor in Chief Nick Bradshaw & Jim Campbell; Ramon Perez C.B. • Marvel/ Dc Secret Files A.R.G.U.S / S.H.I.E.L.D
MARVEL/ DC SECRET FILES During these sessions you will take place of one of these superheroes from both worlds to discuss the take on action, the strategy, explain the reasons to proceed from certain way and giving enough intelligence and ideas to approach conflicted countries and regions where certain heroes from an specific nationality couldn’t enter due to political motives. OVERVIEW Dangerous objects and devices have fallen into the hands of both Marvel and DC villains. It is the mission of the UN to assign rescue missions of these objects located in different parts of both universes to avoid a possible collision of worlds and being used against humanity. The General Assembly of the United Nations and the Security Council has given special powers to heroes of different countries (and universes) to take action on behalf of the governments of the world to avoid a catastrophe and to be able to fight with the opposing forces that have taken possession of these devices, threatening humanity with them and disrupting world peace forming a Special Force. Recon missions have been done by Black Widow, Catwoman, Hawkeye and Plastic Man and we have gathered information of different objects that are guarded by villains in different locations of both universes. Some in the Marvel universe and others in the DC universe. Each artifact has been enclosed in a magic bubble that prevents its use to any being that has possession of it. But this enchantment created by Doctor Strange and Doctor Fate has expiration time. Within 48 hours, it will be deactivated and anyone who has any of these devices in their possession will be able to freely use them.

Article MAST | Vol.2 | No.1 | May 2021 The Journal of Media Art Study and Theory Volume 2, Issue 1, 2021 Total Screen: Why Baudrillard, Once Again? www.mast-journal.org Baudrillard and the Prophetic: Reimagining the Twin Towers in Avengers: Infinity War Loraine Haywood The University of Newcastle, Australia Abstract After 9/11, Jean Baudrillard proclaimed that the Twin Towers of the World Trade Center (the Twin Towers) in New York City, would enter the imaginary space, that: “Even in their pulverized state… No one who knew them can cease imagining them …Their end in material space has borne them off into a definite imaginary space…” (Spirit of Terrorism 36-37). This can now be considered a prophetic statement, not just in the realm of the human memory, a geographical imagination, but in the imaginary spaces of film. The Twin Towers are reimagined and revealed in presence and absence (maps and territories of the Real). They are present and have an origin story in Robert Zemeckis’ resurrection narrative The Walk, where the high-wire walk by Philippe Petite was credited with “giving them a soul.” They are present in their absence in the New York City skyline in Joseph Kosinski’s Oblivion. However, it is in Marvel’s Avengers: Infinity War that the ruined and ghostly remains of the Twin Towers are reimagined, returning to haunt audiences on the screen, associated with one of the key plot elements, the Soul Stone, and its need for sacrifice. Avengers: Infinity War reimagines the Twin Towers as an architectural marker for the Soul Stone.

  • Avengers and Its Applicability in the Swedish EFL-Classroom
Master’s Thesis Avenging the Anthropocene Green philosophy of heroes and villains in the motion picture tetralogy The Avengers and its applicability in the Swedish EFL-classroom Author: Jens Vang Supervisor: Anne Holm Examiner: Anna Thyberg Date: Spring 2019 Subject: English Level: Advanced Course code: 4ENÄ2E 2 Abstract This essay investigates the ecological values present in antagonists and protagonists in the narrative revolving the Avengers of the Marvel Cinematic Universe. The analysis concludes that biocentric ideals primarily are embodied by the main antagonist of the film series, whereas the protagonists mainly represent anthropocentric perspectives. Since there is a continuum between these two ideals some variations were found within the characters themselves, but philosophical conflicts related to the environment were also found within the group of the Avengers. Excerpts from the films of the study can thus be used to discuss and highlight complex ecological issues within the EFL-classroom. Keywords Ecocriticism, anthropocentrism, biocentrism, ecology, environmentalism, film, EFL, upper secondary school, Avengers, Marvel Cinematic Universe Thanks Throughout my studies at the Linneaus University of Vaxjo I have become acquainted with an incalculable number of teachers and peers whom I sincerely wish to thank gratefully. However, there are three individuals especially vital for me finally concluding my studies: My dear mother; my highly supportive girlfriend, Jenniefer; and my beloved daughter, Evie. i Vang ii Contents 1 Introduction

A major critique of the genre is that it simply represents an adolescent male power fantasy; and presents a world view that valorises masculinist individualism.
