year ago, bullets riddled the burgundy Tahoe that Maria AVelazquez was riding in with her daughter and her husband. When the car came to a stop on I-70 and Blue Ridge, her daughter Jazmin Calderon was dead. Bullets hit Velazquez, and her son-in-law, Roberto Calderon, and his sister, while a one-year old child was unharmed. The last year has been difficult for Velazquez and Calderon. Velazquez de- scribed her daughter as the “light of the room” always one to make them laugh and cry at her stories and jokes. Unsure how to move on from this point, she is looking for answers as to why this tragic event happened to her family. Hispanic News contacted Calderon to speak with him about the loss of his wife.
