Petrie Upgrade (Anzac Avenue, Dayboro Road and Road intersection)

Preferred design released The Department of Transport and Main Roads (TMR) is inviting the community to provide feedback on a preferred design for the Petrie Roundabout Upgrade. Input from local residents, businesses and road users will be critical to shape the design solution at the intersection of Anzac Avenue, Dayboro Road and Gympie Road. Project overview The Government has allocated a total funding package of $30 million to upgrade the Petrie roundabout at the intersection of Anzac Avenue, Dayboro Road and Gympie Road. This includes funding for detailed design, property acquisition and construction. TMR began detailed design work in July 2018. The roundabout currently carries more than 17,000 vehicles per day, including heavy freight vehicles, and is a major bottleneck in peak traffic periods. Significant regional and local developments, such as the University of the Sunshine Coast campus and ‘The Mill at ’, will further increase traffic demand at the intersection in the future. The much-needed upgrade will cater for existing and future traffic demands, reduce the time motorists spend stuck in queues and improve safety for all road users. It will also improve connectivity between key employment, industrial, educational and residential areas in the . During early planning in 2016, TMR developed a concept plan which included replacing the roundabout with a signalised intersection. Current detailed design work has reviewed and built on this early planning to develop a preferred design for the Petrie Roundabout Upgrade. The preferred design is shown on the map overleaf.
