SOJOURN is an interdisciplinary journal devoted to the study of social and cultural issues in Southeast Asia. Empirical and theoretical research articles are published with a view to promoting and disseminating scholarship in and on the region. Areas of special concern include ethnicity, religion, urbanization, migration, and development. Contributions are invited from all scholars, especially those working in Southeast Asian universities and research institutions. Each article should be between 5,000 and 7,000 words in length. It should be accompanied by an abstract of not more than 100 words and a note on the author’s affiliation. Research notes and comments, which would include reports of research findings of shorter length, as well as reports of ongoing research projects, are also invited. Notes on conferences, seminars, and workshops, and comments on institutions devoted to Southeast Asian Studies are published as well. Two copies of the manuscript, plus a diskette, specifying the software used, should be submitted. The manuscript should be typed in double spacing on A4 size paper with a mar- gin of 3 cm. all round. Bibliographical references should be incorporated into the text using the author-date system, with page numbers where appropriate. Notes should be kept to a minimum and numbered consecutively throughout the text. All references should be listed alphabetically at the end of the article. For journal articles, the volume and issue number, month and year of publication and inclusive page numbers should be provided. Bibliographical references should follow the style used in this issue. We take great pride in announcing that Chan Kwok Bun and Seet Chia Sing have just won the ISEAS Michael Leifer Memorial Prize for their article “Migrant Family Drama Revisited: Mainland Chinese Immigrants in Singapore”, published in the October 2003 issue of SOJOURN. The prize worth S$3,000 is given once every two years to the best scholarly work published in any of the three ISEAS academic journals. It was set up to commemorate the late Professor Michael Leifer of the School of Economics whose works have represented the best of scholarship on Southeast Asia. This is the first time the award is given. That a SOJOURN article has won the prize convinces the editors that the journal is receiving high-quality contributions. Our journal looks forward to producing yet more award-winning articles.
