Under the arrangement certain reports are circulated on a weekly basis. The reports assess the application, considers representations which have been received, and make a recommendation regarding the proposal. Having considered the reports, those applications that Councillors feel should be referred to the relevant Planning Committee must be notified to the Strategic Planning section by email within five working days of the publication of the schedule (by 5pm) in line with the procedure set out below. If there has been no valid Member request for referral within the time period, the decision notices will be issued in line with the recommendation in this schedule. From here the walk follows the route of the Cotswold Way National Trail. Follow the Cotswold Way National Trail signs, cross several fields, stone stiles and lanes to reach the main A46 road. Cross the A46 taking extra care at this busy road, and continue down into Dodington Park. 2 Descend into Dodington Park, crossing the footbridge that marks the source of the River Frome and the start of its 30km journey to the River Avon in the heart of Bristol. Continue to follow the Cotswold Way National Trail way-markers through the park. 3 After around 1km, the path swings left and drops down hill. Dodington House lies mostly hidden but occasional tantalising glimpses of its domed roof can be seen in the woods below to your left. Follow the path down to the old stone bridge. After crossing the stone bridge, bear left and cross the estate road, taking care as this section can be muddy in winter months.

    Birds in Avon An annotated checklist A checklist of species in the Avon recording area with details of how their status has changed over time Expanded third edition, December 2020 This is the third edition of this checklist, now updated to the end of 2019, with extra detail, particularly of scarce species and pre 1950 records, and a number of corrections. I have removed most of the previous appendices, those relating to species not on the Avon list, and put them in a separate Supplement. I need to thank Rich Andrews for allowing me to use his line drawing to illustrate the latest text.     VCH Gloucestershire 14, Old Sodbury Draft Version 1 Old Sodbury Old Sodbury is situated 38 km. (24 miles) south of Gloucester and 18 km. (11 miles) north-east of Bristol. The Cotswold Edge runs through the parish, dividing the fertile plateau in the east from the pastoral lower land to the west. The parish contains extensive commons and greens, the largest of which is intercommoned with neighbouring parishes to the north. The name Sodbury, meaning Soppa’s burh,1 refers to the prehistoric hill fort known as Sodbury Camp, the principal feature of the parish. It stands upon the edge of the scarp, overlooking the valley below, and is bisected by the parish boundary with Little Sodbury. It is located near the Port Way, the ancient route that runs between Gloucester and Bath, while other important routes connected Cirencester with Bristol and Malmesbury and Chippenham with the Severn crossing at Aust. The river Frome rises in the parish and runs west towards Bristol. This forms the northern boundary of the borough of Chipping Sodbury, established at the western end of the parish in the 13th century. The growth of Chipping Sodbury in the later 20th century has led to the expansion of the urban area into part of the ancient parish, but the majority of Old Sodbury remains rural in character. Landscape, Settlement and Buildings Boundaries and Parish Origins The Ancient Parish The ancient parish of Old Sodbury was estimated to comprise 3,000 a. in 1803,2 while in 1839 the tithe commissioners computed the parish to measure c.3354 a.3 In 1881 and again in 1903 it was found to contain 3,729 a.
