ComEd has begun changing all of our street- lights at no charge to us. The upgrade is the result of a new program to install LED on all of our lights. The new LED fixtures give Bridgeview the latest in outdoor light technology. LED lighting casts a clean white light which increas- es visibility, unlike the yellow haze from the old sodi- um vapor bulbs. In addition, LED lights will last up to 8 years without changing the bulbs. That means less burnt out bulbs, no replacement costs and the opera- tional cost on the LED light should save us nearly 30 percent on the light pole electric bills! The most exciting part of the new lights is that the new fixture will actually report to ComEd, if the bulb is out or damaged. Yes, that is correct! The light fixture sends a signal to ComEd when it needs service. Fan- tastic technology! Currently when a bulb goes out a resident calls the Village Hall then we call ComEd, which calls us back with a service order number. We wait for ComEd to be in the area replacing bulbs, sometimes 3-5 days. ComEd fixes the bulbs and calls us to report it is fixed. Village staff goes to confirm it is complete. It’s quite a process to fix one bulb! However, that process is now eliminated! Instead we now have better lights and better service, all at no cost to the taxpayers!!!! PACE begins work on new transit center Crews working to finish project Work has begun on the new PACE transit center at the stadium! The project is entirely funded by PACE near stadium before snow falls and will be a new transit station, a rest station for driv- ers, and will have an outdoor shelter waiting area for PACE passengers. Work began in early October and the construction workers are working hard to complete the job before the snow falls! What does this transit center mean for Bridgeview? When the station is complete many routes in the PACE system will begin and end at the stadium, with more routes making a stop here in Bridgeview at the stadi- um. Bridgeview residents benefit from the convenience of public transportation being so close to home. Also, daily visitors who work, shop and visit Bridgeview will find it easier to reach to make the commute! More good news for Bridgeview!!
