Magnifique and Beyond!

2017 FDCC ANNUAL MEETING

July 25-29, 2017 SOMEWHERE OVER THE RAINBOW ...... lies the jewel of the Swiss Riviera, , Switzerland.

“Magnificent” says it all for the venue of our 2017 Annual Meeting! The Town of Montreux is nestled bayside on surrounded by world-class hillside vineyards, and against a breathtaking backdrop of snow-covered Alps. Historic Montreux offers the Federation Nation the oppor- tunity to make a lifetime of unforgettable memories. Join Mills and Carol Anne, Ned and Sue, and Todd and Debbie in this French-speaking corner of para- dise that has attracted so many artists, writers and other notables in search of natural beauty, peace and inspiration. Enjoy a week of discovery in this beauti- ful mild microclimate, the splendors of Lake Geneva, breathtaking surrounding mountains, and sunsets that resemble the paintings of the masters. Our week begins in Zurich and ends in Montreux! On Monday July 24, 2017, the Federation and AIDA Switzerland are proud to jointly present “Bridging the Gap Insurance Summit.” Join interna- tional speakers and attendees at this half “We all came out to Montreux day conference to take place in Zurich in On the Lake Geneva shoreline advance of the FDCC Annual Meeting in Montreux. The conference will focus on . . . issues and challenges which Europeans Smoke on the water, a fire in the sky doing business (or thinking of doing Smoke on the water” business) in the United States are likely to face. Our Annual Meeting CLE theme is Smoke On The Water “Practicing with Swiss Precision.” Todd by Deep Purple Roberts has put together an impressive program with international touches to help make your law practice be as pre- cise as the famed Swiss watches. Our Chateau de Chillon distinguished Friday Keynote Speaker is Fairmont Le Montreux Palace

Nontombi Tutu, daughter of Arch Bishop Desmond Tutu and international human rights activist. Debbie Roberts is our Convention Registration Chair for an onsite registration with its own Swiss Precision. The Annual Meeting will be held at the historic and internationally award winning Fair- mont Le Montreux Palace, a palatial Belle Epoque edifice that has set the tone of elegant luxury ever since it opened in 1906. Once there, the best way to discover the charms of Montreux is by using up a lot of shoe leather. So put on your walking shoes and enjoy the old world charm of historic Montreux, take a cogwheel train to Rochers de Naye for a breathtaking mountain top view overlooking Lake Geneva, or take a stroll along the floral lakeside promenade with someone you love (especially in the evening under the stars). And so much more! Tuesday, July 25, is Fellowship Day. Three exciting trips are planned for you, all of which include lunch and escorts by English speaking guides. You may want to spend a day in Old Town Bern, a UNESCO World Heritage site. You will feel as though you are in a medieval city complete with towers and walls, cathedrals, picturesque fountains, and world class shopping in unique arcades. Or, you might like to visit the Les Diablerets Glacier 3000, where you will take close to a two mile long cable car ride up to the top of the mountain on which the glacier rests – almost 10,000 feet above sea level. From there you’ll see views unlike any other, ever, in addition to venturing across the only suspension bridge in the world connecting two mountain peaks. Enjoy lunch in the mountain top res- taurant affording panoramic views of Lake Geneva and over 40 surrounding snowcapped mountains. Or, spend a day walking historic and beautiful Lausanne, the second largest city on Lake Geneva. Replete with picturesque small alleyways with quaint cafes and chic boutiques in which to shop, Old Town Lausanne largely is car-free and dominated by the finest Gothic-style cathedral in Switzerland. Sample goodies in what are considered some of the best chocolate and cheese shops in Europe. But your adventure is only beginning. Excursions will be offered each day to help you make unforgettable memories with your loved ones and Federation Friends. These include the nest, Nestle’s multimedia museum tracking the 150 history of this iconic label; or an afternoon at Aqua Parc - one of Europe’s finest water parks; or the unforgettably beautiful medieval fortress of Chateau de Chillon. Raise your little finger on a wine tasting tour of famous wineries – with lunch - in one of the finest wine regions in all of Europe. For your Christmas card photos, take a scenic cogwheel train ride up to Rochers de Naye overlooking Montreux, or relax on a boat tour of Lake Geneva. Also not to be missed is Alpine mountaintop Mills, Carol Anne and Charlie chalet near Montreux

the nearby Olympic Museum with permanent and temporary exhibits relating to the Olym- pics, its history and the largest archive of Olympic Games in the world. Want to walk like Charlie Chaplin? He lived in Montreux, you know, and homage has been paid to him at Chaplin’s World, a fascinating museum dedicated to one of the Swiss Riviera’s most un- forgettable citizens. And what would a visit to Switzerland be like without an alpine hike? You can take a mountain hike along the Narcissus Path in Les Avants, near Montreux, where you will drink in incredible views of Lake Geneva and snow covered Alps, com- plete with drinking in a glass of wine at a scenic overlook. Did we mention chocolate and cheese? You’ll have plenty of opportunities to enjoy many of the 450 different types of Swiss cheese and striations of the world’s finest chocolates, including chocolate making classes and touring a cheese factory. Your week at the end of the rainbow in Montreux and beyond will yield a mystic chord of memories stretching from every alpine mountaintop to every bite of Swiss fondue, a basketful of unforgettable experiences that you will treasure forever. You’ll be yodeling all the way home. The Alps are calling you to Montreux the Magnificent on Lake Geneva, and exploits beyond. Reserve your hotel rooms, book your flights, and get ready for a Swiss Family Robinson adventure.
