David Finckel, cello , piano Founder’s Day Celebration Chamber Music at The Barns Sunday, October 27 at 3:00 p.m. Tickets $50

In celebration of Founder’s Day, Wu Han and cellist David Finckel explore two emotional extremes: joy and sorrow, through the works of Bach, Mendelssohn, Glazunov, and Chopin.

November 2019

Escher Jason Vieaux, guitar Chamber Music at The Barns Friday, November 22 at 7:30 p.m. Tickets $42

The Music for Life exploration continues with an exuberant program featuring strings and classical guitar. The celebrated Escher String Quartet and Jason Vieaux perform works by Boccherini, Schumann, Albeniz and Wolf.

Renaissance man Jeffrey Kahane brings his knowledge and expertise to bear on J.S. Bach’s masterwork, The Goldberg Variations, exploring the architecture and inventiveness of theme and variation.

Join Wolf Trap Opera alumni Will Liverman on the journey of a Wanderer whose demons lead him to the icy regions of the Self in Schubert’s iconic Winterreise.

February 2020

Paul Huang, Danbi Um, violin Orion Weiss, piano Chamber Music at The Barns Friday, February 14 at 7:30 p.m. Tickets $42

This debut recital is a series of musical conversations between two violinists, Paul Huang and Danbi Um. Joined by pianist Orion Weiss, they will navigate the music of Spohr, Weniawski, Sarasate, as well as the world premiere of a new chamber work by Chris Rogerson.

Brentano String Quartet Chamber Music at The Barns Friday, February 28 at 7:30 p.m. Tickets $42

The Brentano Quartet returns to the Barns in a program that pays homage to inspiration, both earthly and divine. Beethoven’s brilliant Quartet in A minor Op. 132 and is followed tributes to Davidovsky and Mendelssohn.

Chamber Music Society of Chamber Music at The Barns Sunday, April 5 at 3:00 p.m. Tickets $42

Schoenberg’s powerful testament to the flexibility of the human spirit and strength of love, Verklarte Nacht, is the centerpiece of this performance that features six musicians from CMSLC.

Arnaud Sussmann, violin Paul Neubauer, David Finckel, cello Wu Han, piano Chamber Music at The Barns Friday, May 1 at 7:30 p.m. Tickets $42

While Josef Suk may not be well-known to modern audiences, he was directly responsible for our knowledge (and, dare we posit, love) of both Brahms and Dvorak. This performance explores the deep connections and mutual admiration between musicians.
