Competitor Update No. 2A 5th March 2014 (Revised 10 th March)

Dear Competitor Here we are just a month away from the start of the season, and everyone appears to be coming out of hibernation. Membership, and Race entries are steadily coming in and the office is getting increasingly busy. Here are a few reminders of forthcoming events.

STOP PRESS After the print and production of Competitor Update Number 2 we had some special news from . The Amendments to Snetterton are that the Sports Racing Car Race will be as published on the entry form a 1 Hour Pit Stop Race. The Friday Test day on 6 th June it has been agreed will be exclusively for Historic Cars only. Unless you are taking part in the three hour race for which there is a test session booked for all entrants, you should contact Snetterton circuit to book in to the exclusive test day.

HSCC AGM Tuesday 25 th March at the Silverstone Racing Club, Silverstone Circuit, Commences at 4.00pm The notice of the AGM together with the agenda for the meeting has been distributed to all 2014 members. Minutes from the 2013 meeting are available to download from the HSCC website, All 2014 paid up members are welcome to attend.

Donington Park Sunday 6th April entry forms are published. All races will be 20 minutes duration except for Guards which will be the normal 40 Minutes. There is a track activity taking place on Saturday 5th April so there will no access to the circuit until Saturday evening. Timetables will be published within the next two weeks. As an experiment all HFF cars will be scrutineered in their allocated paddock parking area – full details will be published in Competitors Final Instructions for the meeting. There are no testing dates available after March, so if you plan to test at prior to this meeting either go to the Donington Park website www.donington-park.co.uk or contact Katie Holmes e-mail:[email protected] or telephone 01332 819531.

Hockenheim Jim Clark Revival Meeting Saturday 12th – Sunday 13th April Entry forms have been despatched for the opening rounds of the Historic Formula 2 International Series. This will be a double header race with a 25 minute qualifying session and two 25 minute races. HF2 cars have testing available on Friday morning – book and pay on arrival at the circuit. There are no pit garages available for HF2 at this meeting. Martini Trophy cars also have an invitation to race at this meeting with one practice session and two 25 minute races with the SuperSports race. Entry forms will be sent via e-mail to all Martini registered competitors soon..

Silverstone 30 th April Silverstone Classic Media Test Day. Entry forms are available to download for the Silverstone Classic Media Test Day, this is an exclusive test open to those taking part in the Silverstone Classic only.

Thruxton Saturday 19th – Sunday 20 th April Entry forms are published. This will be the second running of the Easter Revival Meeting, Headlining the event will be the Derek Bell Trophy cars with the Formula 2 classes competing for the Jochen Rindt Trophy this will be a double header race. We would like to encourage HF2 cars to enter this meeting because of the Formula’s history there. We appreciate Hockenheim is only one week before but we hope many of the UK based cars will race at both meetings as in fact they did in period. HF2 and DBT will have pit garages and power for the weekend. The Super Touring Car Trophy, Historic Formula Junior, Historic and Historic Touring Cars all have double header races at this meeting. The Guards Trophy will have the first of their split races for the

year. Every race will be 20 minutes with the Guards Races at 40 minutes each. For early birds there is testing available on Tuesday 18 th February split into alternate open wheel and closed wheel sessions of 55 minutes duration, there will be 4 sessions available at a cost of £150 alternatively there will be testing available on the afternoon of Friday 18 th April this will be in 20 minute sessions priced at £65 each, details are available on www.thruxtonracing.co.uk At this meeting Derek Bell Trophy cars will be able to run unsilenced.

Donington Historic Festival Saturday 3rd Sunday 4 th and Monday 5th May (Bank Holiday) Not a HSCC race meeting but we will be organizing everything on track on behalf of the promoters. A very full programme of races see www.doningtonhistoric.com for details which include a double header for our Martini Trophy and a double header for Historic Formula 3. This is a prestigious meeting and a major coup for the Martini competitors. Guards competitors with up to 2 Litre Sports Racing cars are reminded that their cars are eligible to take part as well, entry forms are available to download from the HSCC Website. For Historic Formula 3 this marks the beginning of the 50 th Anniversary celebrationsfor the ‘Screamer’ cars, to coincide with this Donington Park are putting together a Formula 3 display of cars and demonstration on each day. Book a track have a track day on Thursday 2 nd May this is restricted on noise but if you have a road car or would like to hire one of the companies Caterham cars, for some track familiarisation you can do so by contacting [email protected] or by phoning 0843 2084635. The event promoters are hosting a Dinner on Sunday 4 th May, at the Radisson Blu Hotel, commencing at 7.30pm priced at £59 per person, please return the booking form sent out with your entry to Historic Promotions address on the form before Thursday 17 th April.

Silverstone International Trophy Saturday 17th – Sunday 18th May , on the full Grand Prix Circuit one of our biggest meetings, races for everything and an invitation to GT & SCC as well. Entry forms have now been released and blanks are available to download from the HSCC website. We can take 58 cars in some races so we might have to amalgamate races if necessary. At this race meeting we have permission for Derek Bell Trophy Cars Guards Sports Racers (big bangers only), and Martini Trophy cars to run unsilenced. The Guards Trophy will be split with separate races for GT and Sports Racing Cars. The Historic Road Sports will be teaming up with the members of FISCAR and their race will be a 30 Minute Pit Stop Race. Historic Formula Ford 2000,have extended an invitation to the URS FF2000 Championship to join them at this race meeting. Both groups whilst on track together will be competing for their individual Championship points and podiums. Similarly Historic Formula 3 will be sharing the grid with the Classic Racing Cars at this meeting, points and podiums are available for both championships.Testing will be available on Friday 16th May which this year will be exclusively for Historic Cars. The Club will be organizing an informal evening supper party with sit down dinner and drinks in the BRDC Club House on the Saturday evening. All members and guests will be welcome application forms will be sent with your entry form.

Spa Classic organised by Peter Auto Saturday 17 th – Sunday 18 th May . This will be for rounds three and four of the Historic Formula 2 International Series. There will be one 25 minute qualifying session and two 25 minute races and allocated pit garages in the Grand Prix Paddock.

Nurburgring Historic Trophy Saturday 31 st May – Sunday 1 st June. This a long overdue return to the Nurburgring for rounds five and six of the Historic Formula 2 International Series. There will be one 25 minute qualifying session and two 25 minute races HF2 cars will be allocated Grand Prix paddock pit garages and there will be testing available on Friday morning to be booked and paid for on arrival at the circuit more details to follow.

Snetterton Autosport 3 Hour Race Meeting 6 th – 8th June 2014. For this year the HSCC has teamed up with our friends from the GT and Sports Car Cup, for the running of the Autosport 3 Hour Race. This has introduced some changes into the event which we hope competitors will enjoy. The major change is that the 3 Hour Race will be for Pre’ 66 GT Cars, and Pre’61 Sports Racing Cars. All cars to run on Dunlop L Section tyres, with a minimum of two drivers per car. The Sports Racing Cars who have supported the 3 Hour event over the past years have not been forgotten and there will be a 40 minute Pit Stop Race for them included in the programme. The other new feature for the Autosport and Sports Racing Car competitors is that qualifying will take place after 5.00pm on Friday 6 th June with both races taking place on the Saturday. 3 Hour Competitors also have included in their race entry fee an exclusive 40 minute test session on the Friday. For the rest of the meeting all races will be double headers, with the Historic Road Sports having their now annual Handicap race at this event.

Cadwell Park Wolds Trophy June 21 st – 22 nd . The now established Wolds Trophy has moved to June at this very picturesque circuit. The meeting that remains themed around Formula 3 with both Historic Formula 3 and Classic Formula 3 featuring on the programme there will also be double header races for 70s Road Sports, Historic Road Sports, Historic Touring Cars, Classic Racing Cars, Classic Clubman’s, Historic Formula Junior, Historic Formula Ford and Historic Formula Ford 2000.
