Peter Alvarez joined the Firm in 2016, and is a member of Choate’s EDUCATION Group. Boston University School of Law JD, 2014 He represents private equity and funds in mergers, acquisitions, leveraged buy-outs, growth equity investments, recapitalizations, and control investments in a variety of industries, Boston College including healthcare, technology, life sciences and BA, 2006 across the U.S. and internationally. He also provides education- related pro bono counsel through Choate’s affiliation with the EdLaw Project. Prior to law school, Mr. Alvarez was a middle school teacher.

Private Equity Represents private equity funds in a broad range of transactions, including platform and add-on acquisitions, carve-outs and other divestitures, leveraged , majority and minority recapitalizations, and growth equity investments.

Business & Technology Represents private companies in a variety of industries in , venture capital equity financings, equity issuances, commercial agreements and general corporate work.

Mergers & Acquisitions

Represents portfolio companies, management teams and closely-held businesses in negotiating investments, buyouts, recapitalizations, mergers and acquisitions.

• Represented Great Hill Partners in its $1.8 billion sale of Ascenty, the leading data center company in Brazil, to Digital Realty (NYSE: DLR).

• Represented Riverside Partners in its acquisition of a security alarm funding business, Alarm Funding Associates, LLC, from Keyser Capital, LLC, a Sinclair Broadcast Group, Inc. subsidiary.

• Represented Eliassen Group, LLC in the sale of its IT staffing business to Stone Point Capital.

ADMISSIONS Massachusetts • Represented Mainsail Partners in its growth equity investment in PeraHealth, Inc., a California company that specializes in predictive, real-time clinical surveillance solutions that owns the Rothman Index. PRACTICE AREAS Private Equity • Represented Trinity Partners, a life sciences and pharmaceutical strategy consulting firm, in their investment from Parthenon Capital Partners. Business & Technology • Represented Answers Corporation in the carve-out sale of its subsidiary Mergers & Acquisitions Webcollage, Inc., the developer of a SaaS platform that offers a suite of content management services for brands and retailers.

• Represented EXFO Inc., a Canadian provider of test automation and real-time 3D analytics solutions, in its acquisition of Absolute Analysis, Inc.

• Represented Bournewood Health Systems, a closely-held Massachusetts-based addiction treatment facility, in its sale to Alita Care, LLC.

• Represented a treatment center company in its acquisition of a chain of addiction treatment centers in California.

• Represented a PE-backed wireless operator in their joint venture agreement with another wireless provider to combine their businesses in Puerto Rico.

• Represented a venture capital fund in its investment in an event ticket-pricing technology company.

• Represented an Indian venture capital fund in the secondary sale of interests.

PROFESSIONAL AND COMMUNITY INVOLVEMENT

Mr. Alvarez is a member of the Boston Bar Association. He is an alumnus of the Teach for America program. He currently serves as a board member for Strategies for Youth and is a member of the Boston University Law Alumni Executive Committee. He also is the Vice Chair on the Board of Directors at Union Capital Boston.
