2010 SEA RAY RELAYS RECORDS, NOTES AND AWARD WINNERS

(WEDNESDAY & THURSDAY, APRIL 7 & 8) Records * None

Notes Men * Former Vol Chris Helwick (2004-07) won the men’s decathlon title with a total of 7,779 points. This is Helwick’s third career Sea Ray Relays decathlon crown, as he claimed the 2006 title with 7,707 points and earned a victory in 2007 with 7,732 points. Pushing him to the title were victories in the shot put (13.96m), pole vault (4.80m), javelin (61.60m) and 1500m run (4:34.05).

Women * Tamilee Kerr, competing as an unattached individual, won the women’s heptathlon with a total of 5,447 points. It is her first Sea Ray Relays heptathlon title. Kerr won the javelin portion of the event with a throw of 46.75m. She added a second in the long jump (5.65m) and third in the shot put (11.48m).

* Mallory Barnes, a junior from Dayton, claimed the women’s hammer throw title with a toss of 57.12m (187’ 5”).

(FRIDAY, APRIL 9) Records * None

Notes Men * Tennessee’s Evander Wells narrowly edged out former Vol (2005-08) Rubin Williams for the 100m title. Wells recorded a 10.41 and Williams crossed in 10.43. Williams won the 2008 100m in a meet-record time of 9.96.

* Williams was also runner-up to Wells in the 200m. Wells crossed the line in a world-leading 20.45w. Williams, running for Heritage Elite, was second in 20.82w. Wells became the sixth Vol to claim both sprint events. Williams (2008), Jonathan Wade (2003), (2002), Leonard Scott (2001) and Reggie Jones (1976) also completed the feat.

* Former Vol All-American Anthony Famiglietti (1999-00) captured his second Sea Ray Relays 5000m crown, winning in 13:40.73. The two-time Olympian has six career wins at the meet.

* Three Vols nabbed runner-up honors. Sophomore Joe Franklin was second in the 800m (1:49.36), junior Peter Sigilai just missed the title in the 1500m (3:49.10) and junior Michael Spooner capped the night with by finishing the 10,000m in a career- best time of 29:39.42. Franklin’s mark ranks 11th in the country.

Women * Tamika Robinson, of Illinois, won the 100m in a time of 11.76, downing a field including defending champion Lamarra Currie. Robinson also claimed the 100m hurdles in a time of 13.18. Two-time defending champion and former Lady Vol Celriece Law (2005-09) finished third in 13.28. , running for Nike, finished second in 13.22.

* Former Lady Vol and two-time Olympian DeeDee Trotter (2002-04) posted the second fastest time in the world this season in the 400m, crossing the line in 51.73.

* Sophomore Ellen Wortham became the first Lady Vol ever to win the 400m hurdles, claiming first in an SEC-best 58.31. It’s the third straight personal-best for Wortham in the event. She has captured two of her last three 400m hurdles races, winning the event at the FSU Relays on March 27.

* Shereefa Lloyd, running for Adidas, nabbed her second Sea Ray Relays title in the 200m, winning the event in 23.19. She also snagged the 200m title in 2008 (22.76w). Trotter was second in 23.24. Lloyd did not compete in the event a year ago.

* Sophomore Brittany Sheffey clocked a career-best mark of 2:06.86 en route to taking second in the 800m. That performance ranks eighth in the nation.

* Senior Phoebe Wright cruised to victory in the 1500m, crossing the line in 4:15.66. Her time is a career-best and ranks fourth in the country, as well as fourth on the all-time Lady Vols performances list. She’s the first Tennessee woman to capture the event since Alisa Harvey snagged her second-straight win in 1987.

(SATURDAY, APRIL 10) Records * Mason Cathey, running for the Indiana Invaders, set a new Sea Ray Relays record of 10:12.72 in the women’s 3,000m . Cathey is a Florida alum and competed for UT Director of J.J. Clark, while he was an assistant with the Gators.

Notes Men * A.G. Kruger, competing for Nike, won the men’s hammer throw with a toss of 74.82m. The 2010 hammer title marks Kruger’s third Sea Ray Relays hammer throw title. He won the 2004 title with a throw of 70.38m and the 2008 crown with a meet-record throw of 77.52m.

* The Tennessee 4x800m relay team of Terrance Livingston, Emerson Peacock, Peter Sigilai and Joseph Franklin claimed the Vols’ ninth Sea Ray Relays title in the event, finishing in 7:28.59.

* Tennessee senior Matt Maloney was the top collegiate placer in the javelin, finishing third with a distance of 69.16m. That mark leads the SEC and is a season-best for Maloney.

* Tennessee sophomore Desmond Brown recorded a career-best leap of 7.24m, while finishing second in the long jump.

Women * Annie Alexander, a Lady Vol junior competing unattached, won the discus throw with a toss of 50.44m. Alexander also won the 2008 title with a throw of 53.29m. Additionally, the Trinidad and Tobago native finished runner-up to Illinois’ Aja Evans (16.79m) in the shot put with throw of 16.70m.

* The Tennessee 4x800m relay team of Ramzee Fondren, Brittany Sheffey, Kimarra McDonald, Phoebe Wright captured the Lady Vols’ fourth Sea Ray Relays title in the event, finishing in 8:35.46.

* The Lady Vol 4x400m relay placed second in a season-best time of 3:36.34. The relay consisted of Martinique Octave, Ellen Wortham, Kimarra McDonald and Phoebe Wright.

2010 Women’s Tony Wilson Award Winners Running Events: Tamika Robinson (Illinois) Robinson captured the 100m and 100m hurdles titles and anchored the runner-up 4x100m relay.

Field Events: Annie Alexander (Unattached) Alexander snagged first-place in the discus and was second in the shot put.

Running Events: Evander Wells (Tennessee) Wells became the sixth Vol to win both the 100m and 200m at the meet and anchored the victorious 4x200m relay. He would’ve had fourth event title if not for a disqualification in the 4x100m relay due to an exchange outside the zone.

Field Events: A.G. Kruger (Nike) Kruger won his third career Sea Ray Relays hammer title.
