Motorsport News from the DTM team

• Max Biaggi in a DTM car for the first time • Audi top execs and Michael Dick at Mugello • Martin Tomczyk new ambassador of “Wings for Life”

Premiere: The four-time World Motorcycle Champion Max Biaggi did his AUDI AG Kommunikation first laps in a DTM car. On Sunday morning, shortly before the warm-up, 85045 www.audi.com the Italian piloted the Red Bull DTM. “Too bad that it was only three laps,” said Biaggi, who acquired a taste for the car nevertheless: “I would very much like to seriously test the Audi A4 DTM some time.”

Executive interest: Rupert Stadler, Chairman of the Board of AUDI AG, and Michael Dick, Member of the Board for Technical Development, watched the race on Sunday at Mugello directly at the circuit.

Serving a good cause: Effective immediately, Martin Tomczyk supports the “Wings for Life” initiative as an ambassador. The foundation established by Heinz Kinigadner and Red Bull boss Dietrich Mateschitz serves the purpose of promoting research in the area of injuries to the spinal cord. “I read the fascinating book of the foundation and definitely wanted to support this cause,” said Tomczyk, who carries an advertisement for the foundation on his helmet and appears at special events.

Italian home race: Dindo Capello, who normally contests races for Audi at the wheel of an Audi R10 TDI, switched to a closed car at Mugello. During the DTM’s Italian round the Italian driver chauffeured an Audi RS 4 racing taxi.

Happy birthday: The Audi squad expressed their best wishes to Mattias Ekström on the occasion of his birthday on Saturday. The Swede, who turned 29, was given a birthday cake prior to the free practice session by

Website re-launch: At www.tomczyk.com Martin Tomczyk is now offering his fans a website that boasts an all-new design. The virtual world of the Audi factory driver features the gamut of multi-media entertainment, from song titles, video sequences, a personal photo blog as well as sound bites all the way to comprehensive personal information.

Better late than never: During a test run before the planned race of his AUDI AG remote-controlled model race car against Mattias Ekström in a real Audi Kommunikation 85045 Ingolstadt A4 DTM, Martin Tomczyk had to witness the model becoming a victim of www.audi.com fire. The DTM fans, however, will not be deprived of this attraction: Plans are to hold the acceleration race instead at Zandvoort.

Brief visit: Konrad Schmidt paid a visit to the DTM at Mugello. The Franconian, who is now 59 years old, had ties to the Audi brand for a total of 18 years since 1978. In the rally era of the quattro his SMS team fielded the cars from Ingolstadt with equal success as in the DTM from 1990 to 1992 ( quattro) and at the beginning of the super touring car era.
