Aigles Bleus Crushed by Powerful UNB Reds 17 janvier 2019 – Times & Transcript Aigles Bleus crushed by powerful UNB Reds TIMES & TRANSCRIPT The University of New Brunswick Reds are the top-ranked team in all of Canadian university men’s hockey. The Université de Moncton Aigles Bleus found out why on Wednesday. The Reds scored four first-period goals en route to crushing the visiting Aigles Bleus 10-0 in an Atlantic University Sport conference game at the Aitken University Centre in Fredericton. UNB, which improved its conference-leading record to 19-1-3, was coming off its first regulation time loss of the season in its previous game. Kris Bennett scored a power-play goal at 8:45 of the first period and Matthew Boucher struck with a short-handed marker five minutes later to get the Reds off and running. They never slowed down. The Reds got back-to-back goals from Mark Rassell and Joe Gatenby just 29 seconds apart late in the first period, and the rout was on. They added four goals in the second period and completed the evening with two more in the third. UNB outshot Moncton 52-17. The Aigles Bleus - tied with the St. Francis Xavier X-Men for third place in the AUS and winners of three of their previous four games - slipped to 11-9-3 on the season. Moncton, which beat UNB in a shootout on home ice in the first semester, hasn’t won at the Aitken University Centre since October, 2012. “We need to forget this game quickly,” dejected Aigles Bleus head coach Judes Vallée said following the game. “Some players let us down and that is not acceptable.” The Reds received goals from 10 different players. Christopher Clapperton led the way with a goal and three assists and Randy Gazzola and Bennett each added a goal and two helpers. 17 janvier 2019 – Times & Transcript Marcus McIvor, Stephen Anderson, Matt Boudens and Cam Brace also scored for UNB while Olivier LeBlanc and Tyler Boland chipped in with two assists apiece. Former Moncton Wildcats goaltender Alex Dubeau registered the shutout for the Reds. Aigles Bleus starting netminder Étienne Montpetit allowed four goals on 15 shots in the first period, before he was replaced by Alexi Thibaudeau, who gave up six goals on 37 shots in the final two periods. UNB went 2-for-4 on the power play while Moncton was 0-for-7. The Reds have won three of four meetings with the Aigles Bleus this season. Moncton hosts the University of Prince Edward Island Panthers on Saturday at 7 p.m. at the J.-Louis-Lévesque Arena. In another AUS game on Wednesday, the Saint Mary’s Huskies edged the St. FX 4-3 in overtime. Former Moncton Wildcats forward Mark Tremaine scored a pair of goals for the X-Men. .

In 1800, the Provincial Academy of Arts and Science became the College of New Brunswick. King's College was established at Fredericton, New Brunswick in 1828 under the control of the Church of England. King's College offered the first engineering course taught at a Canadian university in 1854. In 1858 it was made non-sectarian under the designation of the University of New Brunswick. In 1859, it became the non- denominational University of New Brunswick. The governance of UNB was modeled on the provincial University of Toronto Act of 1906 which established a bicameral system of university government consisting of a senate (faculty) responsible for academic policy, and a board of governors (citizens) exercising exclusive control over financial policy and having formal authority in all other matters.

  • Aigles Bleus Coach Frustrated by Injuries
23 janvier 2015 – Times & Transcript Aigles Bleus coach frustrated by injuries UdeM hits road for pair of games this weekend Sean HatcHard Times & TranscripT Université de Moncton Aigles Bleus head coach Serge Bourgeois is only half- joking when he considers if his team is cursed when it comes to injuries in the Atlantic University Sport men’s hockey conference. How bad is it for the Aigles Bleus? Ro okie defenceman Mathieu Martin will miss the next two to three weeks with an ankle injury suffered on the basketball court as part of one of his classes. Then, this week in practice, forward Luc Williams and third-string goaltender Patrick Earle, who has been pressed into the lineup as a backup, were both hurt. They’re questionable for this weekend’s games. Bourgeois does not use injuries as an excuse for Moncton’s struggles this season, but he wonders what his club would look like with a full lineup. Captain and key two-way forward Alex Emond and veteran defenceman Christopher Guay have missed most of the season. No. 1 goaltender Adrien Lemay has not yet played in the second semester due to a concussion. “I’m ready to go see a witch or something to cast a spell to take the curse off me,”Bourgeois said. “I think that’s the most frustrating part of coaching, and even the players feel the same way. In the last couple years, we’ve lost some big players. We lost Mathieu Bolduc at Christmastime a couple years back.We lost Chris Gaudet, who was a big part for us, for a long period of time.

  • Overtime Loss to Saint Mary's Huskies Pushes Aigles Bleus Back to Fifth
23 nov. 2015 – Times & Transcript (D3) Overtime loss to Saint Mary’s Huskies pushes Aigles Bleus back to fifth place TIMES & TRANSCRIPT The Université de Moncton Aigles Bleus put up a strong battle, but came out on the wrong side of the score again. A goal by Alex Cord at 2:03 of overtime lifted the visiting Saint Mary’s Huskies to a 3-2 win over the Aigles Bleus in an Atlantic University Sport men’s hockey conference game Saturday at the J.-Louis-Lévesque Arena. Moncton gained a point for the overtime setback, but has lost three straight games and five of its last six. The Aigles Bleus (6-5-2) find themselves in fifth place with two games remaining in the first semester. “We did exercise a much better effort tonight compared to the third period of Friday, but we are in the business of winning games,”said Moncton defenceman Pierre Durepos, whose club was coming off blowing a two-goal, third-period lead in a 4-3 loss to the Acadia Axemen on home ice on Friday. “Losing is not interesting. The game was physical with intensity, but that is not a surprise against the Huskies.” Kyle Pereira and Michael Curtis also scored for the fourth-place Huskies (7-4-2), who received two assists from former Moncton Wildcat Taylor Burke. Alex Noël and Durepos answered for the Aigles Bleus. Cole Cheveldave stopped 23 shots for Saint Mary’s. Adrien Lemay made 26 saves for Moncton. In overtime, Cord intercepted a pass in the neutral zone and went in on a breakaway against Lemay and slid the puck in for the winner.
