Bandhan Express flagged off: 52 years after Indo-Pak war, - train back More than 52 years after it was stopped, and launched the Bandhan Express to resume train services connecting Kolkata with the industrial town of Khulna, the third largest city in Bangladesh. Prime Minister , his Bangladesh counterpart and Chief Minister flagged off the train through video links. Two railway bridges in Bangladesh built with Indian funding were also opened and a proposed international passenger terminal launched at the same time. (I.E.,10/11)

China media praises tone, outcome of Trump-Xi summit Chinese state media praised the tone and outcome of US President Donald Trump's visit to Beijing, saying he and Chinese President Xi Jinping were setting a new blueprint for handling relations and managing their differences. Trump pressed China to do more to rein in North Korea and said bilateral trade had been unfair to the United States, but praised Xi's pledge that China would be more open to foreign firms. The two also oversaw the signing of about $250 billion in commercial deals.

Penny Mordaunt replaces Priti Patel , a former minister in the work and pensions department and an outspoken supporter of has replaced Priti Patel as international development secretary, following the Indian-origin politician’s high-profile resignation. Prime Minister has been under pressure to replace Ms. Patel, Britain’s first Indian-origin cabinet member and also a vocal member of the Leave campaign with another “Brexiteer,” in a cabinet divided over the issue. “It would be wrong to make any great changes to the balance of the cabinet” former Conservative Party leader told the BBC . Mordaunt, the MP for the port city of Portsmouth, was previously a minister for the Work and Pensions department.
