RECAP: The South Bay Lakers lost their fi nal game of the season as they fell to the Northern Arizona Suns, 99-96, on Saturday night. Justin Harper scored a team-high 20 points off the bench for the Lakers (21-29) in the loss. Three players for Northern Arizona (12-38) grabbed double-doubles as they won the season series against South Bay. South Bay got out to a quick 25-18 lead after the fi rst quarter, as scored nine points in the period, shooting a perfect 3-of-3 from three-point range. The Suns bounced back to take a 55-52 halftime lead, behind 12 second-quarter points from Aaron Epps. Northern Arizona extended their lead through three, 80-73, as Peter Jok scored nine points in the third quarter alone. South Bay outscored the Suns in the fourth quarter, as Harper scored eight points off the bench, but the Suns prevailed in the closing minutes for the win. Harper’s 20 points paced the Lakers, while Andre Ingram and Wear scored 19 points apiece. Jemerrio Jones did some of everything with eight points, eight rebounds, eight assists and three blocks. South Bay fi nished the year with a 21-29 regular season record and saw Ingram and Scott Machado receive NBA Call Ups with the Los Angeles Lakers.

LAKERS LATEST

Macho Machado Scott Machado was named NBA G League Player of the Week on 3/18 after averaging 25.0 points and 14.0 assists in three South Bay wins from 3/11-3/17. Machado had the best game of his career on 3/11 at Wisconsin as he poured in a career-high 40 points along with a season-high 16 assists. The point guard put on a show against the Suns on 3/5 as he scored a season-high 34 points with nine assists. Machado scored 21 points in the fourth quarter alone as he contin- ued his stellar play of late. Since the All-Star Break, he averaged 22.5 points and 10.6 assists and in his last fi ve games he averaged 21.2 and 12.4

Yee-Hawes! Since joining South Bay on 3/2, Spencer Hawes averaged 14.0 points, 7.0 rebounds and 1.4 blocks in nine games. The 10-year NBA veteran shot a blistering 45.0 percent from beyond the arc. Hawes scored a season-high 29 points on 3/16 vs. Austin.

Oh Say Can You AC Alex Caruso fi nished with 19 points, 4 steals and a career-high 15 assists in South Bay’s 34-point win over the Texas Legends on 2/2. Caruso bested his previ- ous career-high of 13 assists, last set on 3/7/18.

The Mean Teen scored a career-high 30 points with nine rebounds, two assists and two blocks on 1/25 in South Bay’s 117-101 win over Iowa. The 19-year-old rookie shot 13-18 from the fl oor and was a team-high +20 in the big win.

The Greatful Eight A season-high eight Lakers scored in double fi gures in the Lakers’ 113-106 win over Memphis on 1/15. Wear scored a team-high 19 points, while Bonga (13 points, 10 rebounds) and Williams (13 points, 11 rebounds) each grabbed a double-double. Robert Heyer scored a season-high 15 points off the bench and Harper (13 points), Ingram (11 points) and Allen (10 points) joined him in double digits. Caruso also reached the mark with 11 points in his fi rst game of 2019.

He’s Still Got It Andre Ingram continued to shine in his 11th season, fi nishing with 24 points on 6-7 shooting from beyond the arc in South Bay’s 120-119 win over the on 12/7. With South Bay down by four, the sharp-shooter scored fi ve unanswered including a running fl oater with two seconds remaining to give the Lakers the win

Caruso the Closer Alex Caruso scored 19 of his 28 points in the fourth quarter in South Bay’s 107-101 win over Windy City on 12/3. Caruso shot 5-9 from the fi eld, 3-6 from three- point range and 6-7 from the line in the fi nal period.

They Call Me JJ Jemerrio Jones continued his great start to his rookie season with a near triple-double on 11/28 vs. Texas, fi nishing with 10 points, 14 rebounds, nine assists, two steals and three blocks. Jones leads the team in rebounds per game (9.6) and averaged 14.0 rebounds at the MGM Resorts NBA G League Winter Show- case.

The Rook Rocks Moe Wagner joined South Bay on assignment on 11/28 and helped lead the team to a 123-113 win. Wagner tallied 21 points, including a dominant third quarter where he scored 17 points and shot 7-8 from the fi eld.

Come On Scottie! Scott Machado scored 33 points, including 16 points in the fourth, to give the Lakers their fi rst road win on 11/24 at Sioux Falls. Machado will join the Brazillian National Team for FIBA Qualifi ers. The point guard tallied three points and three assists vs. Domincan Republic on 11/30 and eight points and six assist on 12/3

Red, White and Blue Berry Joel Berry II was selected to play for Team USA as part of the second-round FIBA Basketball World Cup 2019 Americas Qualifi ers. Berry II posted four points, two rebounds and one assist on 11/29 vs. Argentina and helped Team USA secure a berth in the FIBA World Cup

Izzy Fo Shizzy Isaac Bonga did a bit of everything in South Bay’s 107-92 win over the Salt Lake City Stars on 11/18. The rookie guard posted 25 points, six rebounds, three assists, three steals and a block in the win. Bonga shot 5-9 from beyond the arc in the game.

Holy Caruso! Alex Caruso had his best game of the young season in a 119-118 win over the on 11/12. Caruso tallied 26 points, seven rebounds and 11 assists, but it was his four triples in the fourth quarter that helped the Lakers grab the win. The two-way guard scored the game-winning shot from distance with 3.3 seconds remaining to give South Bay their fi rst victory of the year.

Großartig South Bay dropped their fi rst game of the season, but got good production from their two rookies on assignment from LA. Isaac Bonga tallied 27 points, 9 rebounds, 3 assists and 2 blocks, while Moe Wagner pitched in 17 points and 4 rebounds.

DRE’S BACK Andre Ingram returns to the South Bay for his 11th season in the G League.
