Happy Easter! Every year our liturgical calendar gives us this opportunity to increase our anticipation for the gift of eternal life. The season of Lent shows us the way to live every day of our journey that leads to eternal life. Many have gone before us and already enjoy the reward of becoming one with our Risen Lord Jesus Christ.

Pope Francis gives us the most recent examples to follow. He just signed the decree for the of Blessed Mother Teresa of Kolkata (aka Calcutta), Fr. John Direen Pastor foundress of the Missionaries of Charity. She will be canonized on September 4, 2016. He also decreed that four others will be canonized. They are: Blessed Stanisłaus of Jesus and Mary (1631-1701) of Poland, who founded the Marians of the Immaculate Conception; and Blessed Maria Elizabeth Hesselblad (1870- 1957), a Swedish nurse who converted to Roman Catholicism. She founded a new form of known as Bridgettine Sisters. The canonization date for these two is June 5, 2016. Blessed José Gabriel del Rosario (1840-1914) from Argentina who suffered leprosy throughout his life, and is known for his service to the poor and sick; and Blessed José Luis Sánchez del Río (1913-1928), a Mexican Cristero who was martyred at the age of 14 by the Mexican government when he refused to deny his Catholic faith, will be canonized on October 16, 2016. These five succeeded in their endeavors to be one with our Lord forever. They give us

an example of what we can do to be true disciples of our Lord Jesus Christ. There we are are others who no doubt have joined the saints in heaven just this month.

invited to It was reported in Zenit on March 16, 2016, that in Aden, Yemen, on March 4, four nuns of the order founded by the soon-to-be canonized Blessed Mother join our risen Teresa, as well as 12 lay people, were murdered, presumably by Islamic lord extremists. A Salesian from India has been missing since then. The nuns’ work involved the care of the elderly and disabled. Bishop Camillo Ballin, who heads the Bahrain-based of Northern Arabia, said: “… they can quite unequivocally be called martyrs…the martyrdom of these nuns is a that Mother Teresa’s congregation continues to be close to Jesus. Because anyone who draws near to Jesus is always bound to His suffering and His death…These nuns gave bread to the elderly and disabled Muslims living in their facility. In return, they received gunfire. Jesus’ death on the cross was followed by resurrection. The same can be said for these nuns. Their sacrifice was not only made for their personal resurrection, but also for their congregation and for those whom they served, for Yemen and for their murderers.”

There is a video on the life and work of Blessed Mother Teresa available free of charge to all of our parishioners and families and friends. Please take a look at it and the other videos and resources to enrich our Catholic faith by registering to our parish subscription (already paid) at Formed.org Log on: https://formed.org/ Parish Access Code: FVTVP3

May this Easter season renew our commitment to join in our Lord’s sacrifice so that we have confidence in our hope to one day share fully in his resurrection.
