Toronto Human Rights Watch Film Festival

The annual Toronto Human Rights Watch Film Festival brings human stories to life in a manner that empowers the audience to demand justice for all. Tickets are free (maximum 2 per film) for the following movies: I am Not Alone, On the President's Orders, Gay Chorus Deep South, Born in Evin, Made in Bangladesh.

Annual Black History Month Celebration: presented by Jean Augustine Centre for Young Women's Empowerment

This is a fundraising event celebrating Black history. There will be a catered breakfast, crafts sales and performances. Tickets can be purchased at the Jean Augustine Centre. For more information please call 416-253-9797 or email [email protected].

Lumina Toronto Zoo

Terra Lumina at the Toronto Zoo is the eleventh unique experience created in Moment Factory’s Lumina night walk series. After nightfall at the Toronto Zoo this winter, you are invited to pursue an immersive experience along a 1.5 km walking path that travels into the future and back.

Winterlicious 2020

This winter, step up to the plate and taste what Toronto has to offer. 2020 International Autoshow

AutoShow 2020 will be held at the North and South Buildings of the Metro Toronto Convention Centre. From Jeeps to Jaguars, Toyotas to Teslas. Featuring special exhibits on Canadian Military vehicles and our dream cars of the 80s. Come check out cars fully designed, built and assembled in Ontario or test drive an e-car. There’s so many more to see at the Autoshow.

Glad Day Bingo

Every third Saturday of the month, join our drag performers and bingo caller Glittur Dunn for a night of music, food, performances, prizes and fun at GLAD DAY DRAG BINGO! We spin the bingo cage on a rotating lineup of kings, queens, and performers for a queer-positive, inclusive, and affirming evening. Doors at 6:30pm for pre-show drinks and food - performances and games begin at 7pm! Seats at tables are $15, seats at the bar are free. Bingo cards are free.

Canadian Opera Company's Free Concert Series: Ensemble Sayr

The hypnotic sounds of the santur and percussion are united with the captivating movement of Sufi whirling in this performance of traditional Persian and Sufi music, featuring Farzad AttarJafari (whirling dervish), Amir Koushkani (tar), and Amir Amiri (santur).

The Wizard of Oz on the big screen!

Based on the famous stories by L. Frank Baum, Dorothy Gale is swept away by a tornado to the land of Oz. There she embarks upon a quest with her new but familiar friends to find the Wizard, who they believe will grant them each their deepest desire. You’ll see Glinda the Good Witch, the Wicked Witch of the West, the Munchkins, flying monkeys, a field of poppies, the Emerald City, and Dorothy’s little dog, too—all as they were meant to be seen. Academy Award winning musical classic!

Welcoming COURTNEY EDMOND Resident & Family Services Coordinator

Courtney graduated from Ryerson University in 2016 with a Bachelor’s in Social Work and a Minor in Psychology.

Her past work and practicum experiences include time in various different caseworker roles at Big Brothers Big Sisters of Peel working with many families and community organizations while serving as a mentor to hundreds of different children and youth. In addition to this, she has spent time working with adults with developmental disabilities in the Adult Protective Services Department at Community Living Toronto.

She has also served on committees focusing on Equity, Diversity and Inclusion.

Courtney enjoys staying active, practicing yoga, and travelling and exploring new places around the world.

Courtney’s office is located on Main Floor. Please join us in welcoming her on Tuesday February 4th, 2020.

Does your loved one require 1:1 visits with a volunteer?

Volunteers at Wellesley Central Place can spend time with your loved one while engaging in various leisure activities such as outdoor strolls in the backyard or courtyard, a visit to Our Lady of Lourdes Church, a trip to the library or coffee shop, reading and reminiscing.

If you would like to sign your loved one up for 1:1 volunteer visits please contact the Life Enrichment Staff on your floor.
