This factsheet provides information on shops and facilities in villages in the Waveney District as at May 2014.

Neighbourhood and village shops and facilities are convenient, reduce the need to travel and benefit quality of life as places for social interaction.

Policy DM15 Neighbourhood and Village Shops and Facilities of the Development Management Policies Development Plan Document (adopted January 2011) aims to sustain and improve access to services and facilities, particularly for those people living in the rural areas.

Proposals to change the use of village or neighbourhood shops, pubs, community centres/halls, and other similar facilities to other uses will be resisted unless a replacement facility of a similar size, quality and convenience is made available to serve the local area.
