TRAVELING THROUGH HISTORY

LATE NINETEENTH & EARLY TWENTIETH CENTURY 18951895----19411941

Recovery from the Civil War took time, and the early twentieth century was a time of change in South Carolina. The state struggled along with the nation during the Great Depression, and continued to develop its railroads and agricultural pursuits. Historic sites associated with this time period include South Carolina’s only presidential site as well as the multitude of state parks created and improved by the Civilian Conservation Corps (CCC), a New Deal agency.
