Can you provide a home for a child visiting Malvern from Chernobyl summer 2015 ?

If so Dorothy Knights would be very grateful to hear from you on 01684561358 or 07815314555. If you can host a child during 10th June to 8th July or know someone who can to help this vital work. 2016 will be the 30th anniversary of this dreadful disaster but sadly the contamination from the fall out will continue for many more years and this health giving break for the children has such a positive effect on their well-being. Please help if you can.

6 The Fruits Of Our Labour!

How to make 40 people happy on an extremely wet and windy March Sunday afternoon? The answer is that the dedicated volunteer drivers from Community Action in Malvern bring them along to Christ Church for an “afternoon tea”. It was a super gathering where everyone could chat and catch up with friends and enjoy the company, as well as the food. Someone even said “It’s like the Ritz”! Brian worked so hard in producing the delightful cakes and delicacies and we had a tremendous team in the kitchen, helping and serving, the weather was soon forgotten!

Candlemas At Christ Church

On Sunday evening we were very happy to hold a Candlemas Service with Malvern St James School, a really lovely reflective service with, naturally, candles! It is nice to be reminded that candles are not just for Christmas as they were used here to great effect as we celebrated the light of Christ. The whole Church was filled with candles as we all lit a candle and stood in a circle as 150 girls sang “Make me a light to lighten the World” simply lovely.

The WSO (Worcestershire Symphony Orchestra) is excited to bring its summer chamber concert to Christ Church this year, conducted by Keith Slade and led by Victoria Lee.

The concert is the orchestra’s annual opportunity for some of its excellent regular players to shine as soloists in a range of concerti. It is also a chance to play pieces that require smaller forces than the standard symphonic repertoire. 16 THE BOEHM Clarinet and Piano Duo Louisa Davidson and Tim Sidford AFTERNOON RECITAL on Saturday, July 18th 2015 at 3.30 pm at CHRIST CHURCH Avenue Road, Malvern FOR CIVIC WEEK 2015 Programme - Works by Stanford, Finzi & Brahms

Two works by UK composers .Charles Villiers Stanford and Gerald Finzi and Brahms

Stanfords 3 Intermezzi were composed in 1879. Stanford clearly intended the work for the clarinet but his publisher insisted that he make arrangements for the violin as well as the cello. Stanford’s clarinet writing is particularly noteworthy as its anticipates Brahms’ works by over a decade. One might well say, Brahms borrowed from Stanford! Stanford was knighted in 1901 for the tremendous contribution he made to British music.

Gerald Finzis popular Five Bagatelles for Clarinet And Piano. In July 1945 Finzi persuaded Boosey to publish them as a group, together with an additional fast finale. Better known for his vocal music, Finzi also wrote well for the clarinet: these Five Bagatelles and his later Clarinet Concerto are frequently played.

Brahms Clarinet Sonata in F minor Op 120 No 1 Written in 1894 it is dedicated to the clarinettist Richard Muhlfeld. The two well-loved Clarinet sonatas stem from a period in Brahms’s life where he “discovered” the beauty of the sound and colour of the clarinet
