Founded in 1881 by an act of the Territorial Legish1ture, the first building was constructed and classes started Sept. 24, 1884. SDSU, a land-grant institution, is the largest facility of higher education in the state, with an estimated fall enrollment of 6,400 students. It is one of 68 land-grant institutions establish� ed under the Morrill Act of 1862. The University is composed of six interacting colleges, plus the Gradu­ ate School and Division of General Registration. The six colleges are Ag­ riculture and Biological Sciences; Arts and Science; Pharmacy; Nursing; En­ gineering and Home Economics. D., Sept. 13-SDS grabbed a 21-0 halftime lead on a pair of short scoring runs in the opening game of the season. The third quarter saw SDS scoring another touchdown and on the finalplay of the game quarterback Fred Richardson threw a 26-yd. pass to Phil Houser. The other two points came on a safety following a blocked punt. In the fourth quarter 'St. Thomas scored its first touchdown. With 2:16 left in the game, St. Thomas
