HAPPY THANKSGIVING

The Log 2

PMYC Family, First, I want to thank the Membership for the beautiful flower arrangement that was put up at the Club right after Sparky’s passing. I do not know how to thank you enough for all the help and support that the Club members provided for Sparky’s Memorial Services on October 6, 2012. Without the assistance of the members (organizing and offering the use of their boats for the sea burial, providing food, decorating and setting up the club for the service, tending the bar, setting up the sound system, arranging for the fire boat and parking, organizing the buckets, providing water, sodas, and items for the buckets, and taking pictures and video), Sparky’s Memorial would not have turned out to be a special day. PMYC was a big part of Sparky’s life and he would be so happy to see so many members helping with his services. PMYC is truly a family. It meant a lot to me and the Mundo Family to see so many of his friends and family assemble at PMYC to send him off. Sparky did impact a lot of people’s lives and he will be missed by those who met him. Again, I really appreciate all the help and support given to me. The entire Mundo Family is very grateful for everyone’s assistance and friendship. Janet and The Mundo Family

3 Tom Hall - Commodore

The Count Down has Begun!

As November starts, Fall has finally arrived, ushered in by an amazing PMYC Halloween Party! The decorations, food, drinks, music, dancing, contests and great friends, made for a Ghoulishly Great Time!

The new outdoor heater on the eastern wall of the Big Deck will make this cool weather just that much more pleasant. A Big Thank You to all the crew who helped Candy install the wall heater.

PMYC is really rocking the Dinners – both Monday and Friday nights! The Board of Directors hosted a fantastic meal as well. The Club House seems to be constantly full of food, music & people having a great time.

Kids Slip Fishing will be held Nov 3rd at 7am-Noon. Sign up sheet is posted at the Clubhouse. The LAPD will be there too. Should be great fun for all.

“Every Other Sunday Brunches” continue to be a hit. The next one, on November 11th will start with a Stand Up Paddleboard Regatta & float into Brunch with Mimosas.

The Memorial for Staff Commodore Sparky Mundo was as moving as it was beautiful. Thanks to everyone involved, including the hundreds of Dolphin that lead us back to Marina del Rey. Our hearts & love go out to Janet & the family.

My year as Commodore is drawing to a close. Not that I know how many Days, Hours, and Minutes remain until December 7th at 7pm. I have an App for that!

It seems incredible that so much time has flown by. But instead of dwelling on what did and didn’t happen, I’d like to find out from you, what else can be done before the end of my term.

Please take a moment to send me a note at [email protected]

Let’s see what we can accomplish!

4 Larry Koch - Vice Commodore Darlene and I were both extremely moved by the turnout and show of love for Sparky Mundo. He was "one of a kind" and will surely be missed by everyone he touched. In my October LOG article, I didn't write about the cruise Darlene and I took in September to Alaska. While in Ketchikan (our first stop), I got to revisit all those bars where I spent way too much time and money, while working up there in the mid 1980's. It was amazing to see that not much has changed in Ketchikan in all those years since I was there. For anyone looking for an adventure, I highly recommend a trip to Alaska. The scenery, fishing, hunting, hiking, mountains, rain, snow, forests, just everything, is as big as it gets. They say everything is bigger in Texas..... I've been to both, and I don't think so. As you're reading this, we're touring in Japan for two weeks. Our last trip for a while. We have two personal tour guides in our friends Dick and Susan Goodwin. They go there quite often, know the country, the transportation system and all the great sights to see and where to eat sushi and drink sake. Photos to follow when we return. I want to thank all club members for their support and hope everyone votes for the nominated slate of officers for 2013. The future of the Club is in our hands.

Kent Andersson Staff Commodore 2010

2012 is kind of over! We lost a lot of good friends and members this year, BUT it's time to charge our batteries and get ready for the 50th year of PMYC. We still have things going on: Kids Slip Fishing, Chili Contest, Comedy Night, Thanksgiving dinner, Christmas dinner and change of guards. Let's all get together and make next year a hell of a show that we are known for in the boating community. PMYC ROCKS!

Tickets have been going quickly and we are still 2 weeks away. Don't wait! RESERVE ASAP! This show is for ADULTS ONLY! You must be 18 or older to be in the building that night. This is a good time to invite family, friends & boat neighbors. So round everyone up right away! This is a Headliners Only Show & rare that these performers would do the same show together.

The show will be hosted by "yours truly" myself the elf, Tony Milazzo. Headliner's includes:

Johnny Cardinale from Last Comic Standing, Jimmy Kimmel Live, Chelsea Lately & the TV Guide Network. He tours around the world. He has done 7 USO Tours for our Troops and many years on the College Circuit. You might have heard him recently on "For the Love of Mic" Radio & Podcast on XM/Sirus.

Roger Rodd can be heard on FlopHouse Radio & KABC. You might know him from "Poker After Dark". He has performed standup on P Diddy's "Bad Boys of Comedy" & "Showtime at the Apollo" on BET.

Skyler Stone from Hostel 3 & Waiting. He had his own show on called "Con". You probably know him best from Fox TV's, "Raising Hope" & is currently shooting the Christmas Special. I acted with him recently in a pilot for the Fuel Channel called, "Follow Skyler".

Joseph Tran is a boater in our marina & is not a stranger to PMYC. He is a modern-day magician without the cheesy props and the sparkly costumes. One part magician, and one part comedian. He has traveled all over the world and performed across 2 oceans and 4 continents. He has appeared on TV & Film, including Comedy Central. Joseph was voted "Young Magician of the Year" by the World Famous Hollywood Magic Castle.

Theo Von is one of the fastest rising stars of stand-up comedy. He has appeared on the Late Late Show with Craig Ferguson and is currently the host of Yahoo!’s popular daily recap show, Prime- time in No Time, which averages over one million views a day. Theo will next be seen this spring on Comedy Central’s The Half Hours. He’s also the genius behind CrankTexts.com, a website where he texts random numbers and gets into conversations with total strangers. CrankTexts was a weekly featured article on College Humor. CrankTexts.com has had 10 million page views and averages 18 clicks per visit. Theo has also been the host of The Comedy Sideshow podcast – consistently one of the 10 most downloaded video podcasts on iTunes. He is a Louisiana native whom you may recognize as the winner of Comedy Central’s Reality Bites Back, from NBC’s Last Comic Standing S4, and Comedy Central’s . He attended 7 colleges/universities as a full time student, including "Semester at Sea", a program he actively fundraises for. 11

He currently headlines comedy clubs every weekend across the country.

Casey Balsham is originally from San Francisco CA, Casey moved to Southern California to pursue theatre at Long Beach State in 2000. She started stand up against her will for a fundraiser at her college and got a lot of positive feedback, so decided to try it again. By the third time, people were still laughing and that is how she got hooked. After two years of doing stand up, she took an accidental three year trip to Maui. She brought some comedy to the island, but ultimately decided that the LA scene was calling her back. She is now a hard core comedy junkie who performs all over!

These comics are excited to perform for our fun and unique club. They are not coming for the thousands of dollars we don't pay them! LOL. They are coming to have fun with you! So, come on out for this rare experience and join my funny friends for a night we will all never forget! I've worked with all of them separately, but never together. I would like to thank them ahead of time for doing this show and leaving their "ego" at home!

Please feel free to thank them yourself and make them feel at home in our humble 90 seat comedy club. (PMYC front room)

Thanks & See you at the Show! Tony Milazzo 12

Lee Snook Lee grew up in England, spending most of his childhood shiver- ing in the damp and cold, pining for his Mother’s cooking and learning how to escape from various boarding ('public') schools, the last of which was a Benedictine monastery on top of a hill in the midst of nothingness; he was released just before turning 18. He's never fully recovered as the kind monks were excellent at coaching the dark arts of rugby and making / drinking wine, but they never mentioned anything about girls or what life was like in Southern California. The rest, as they say…

Peter Smyth I was born in Australia and having the Pacific salt water in my veins has allowed me to surf & sail with the best. From 12 footers to 85 footers it has always been fun and I trust the Good Lord will allow me to have a lot more of that!

I have lived in the Marina on & off for 30 + years. Over those years I have cruised, raced & sailed along the US and Mexican Coasts. I trust I may expand on those experiences with my new PMYC club members.

The water for me has a magnetism, along with some good Irish or Scottish whisky, puts a big smile on my face.

I look forward to meeting all at the club over time and enjoying your company.
