History Park & –Fallon House Historic Site www.historysanjose.org Our Mission: History San José collects, preserves and celebrates the stories of diversity and innovation in San José and the . TYPES OF PROGRAMS History San José offers a wide variety of educational programs for all grade levels to support classroom teachers. This year, we have aligned the Califor- nia State Standards with Core Curriculum standards. Look for these icons to find the program that is right for your classroom and curriculum. EXPERIENCE programs give students the opportunity to experience daily life in an historical era through a variety of hands-on activities, including dress-up, food preparation, craft activities, and games. These programs are the longest and require chaperones to facilitate activity stations; minimum chaperone requirements must be met for all activities to be provided. THEME programs give students the opportunity to visit historic buildings and learn about Santa Clara Valley themes. These programs feature some hands-on activities and role-playing, and require some chaperone assistance with activities. TOUR programs visit historic buildings and give students a general overview of Santa Clara Valley history. These programs do not have hands-on activities, but do require at least one chaperone for every 10 students. They are the shortest, 1 hour and 15 minutes.

The Common Core Standards (CCSS) for elementary literacy help build creativity, innovation, critical thinking, problem solving, collaboration, and com- munication. The standards develop the foundation for creative and purposeful expression in language. • All of History San José’s school programs meet specific History-Social Science Content Standards for California public schools. • The core curriculum of HSJ programs can always be aligned with the Language Arts Content Standards. • Programs are designed around curriculum grade levels and standards.
