LANE COUNTY FAIR-2013 Tentative Schedule for OSG 140th Annual Session The Lane County Fair will be July 24 through 28 in Eugene, Oregon June 17 –21, 2013 at the Fair Grounds. Thursday, July 25 is Grange DayDay. Grangers Canby Grove Christian Center, Canby, Oregon can get in at a reduce rate by presenting the coupon below at the ticket booth when purchasing tickets. Abernethy #346 - Clackamas County

15745 S Harley Avenue, Oregon City Meets 1st Monday Oct-Jun, 4th Monday July-September 7:30 pm, Potluck 6:30 pm Abernathy Grange was organized on March 7, 1904 with 67 charter members and was named after George Abernethy, however the original charter misspelled the name as Abernathy. In 1982, the Grange officially changed its name to Abernethy Grange. The first hall was a barn donated by a member. That hall burned down in 1922 and a new hall was built and first used on May 31, 1924. In 1949, the Grange purchased the old Park Place School and property for a new hall. The highway department wanted the land and in 1960 they purchased it. The next new hall was ready for use in June 1961 with meetings held in the basement and the upstairs was used for the first time on May 7, 1962. Since the mid 1990’s, Abernethy Grange has been the home of several square dance groups. The Northwest Vintage Radio Society and Early Ford V-8 Club meet there monthly and have been there for many years as faithful renters. The Grange hall is used by many families for holiday family gatherings. Abernethy Grange supports the Holcomb School with donations to the library and to other worthy causes in the community.

Beavercreek #276 - Clackamas County

22041 S Kamrath Rd, Beavercreek Meets 1st Saturday 1 pm; potluck noon Beavercreek Grange was organized as Central Grange on May 14, 1896 with 30 charter members. The first meetings were held at the local school or members homes until the grange raised $100 to purchase property on Kamrath Road. A stock company composed of Grangers purchased the land and then built a building on it which was rented back to the Grange starting in January 1900. That building was lost to fire in September 1900 and the hall was rebuilt and rented to the Grange for $18 per year. In 1927 the land and building where purchased by the Grange from the stock company and in 1931, the hall as moved to the rear and a new main hall was added at a cost of $2000. The old hall was converted to a dining room and kitchen. In 1973, the membership voted to change the name from Central Grange to Beavercreek Grange # 276. The Grange currently the home of a Boy Scout Troop and the Beavercreek Lions Club. Monthly breakfast on the first Saturday of each month and an Annual Mother’s Day Breakfast are the major fundraisers for this Grange.

Eagle Creek #297 - Clackamas County

24491 Old Eagle Creek Rd, Eagle Creek Meets 3rd Sat 7:30 pm; potluck 6:30 pm Eagle Creek Grange was organized on June 13, 1901 with 25 charter members. The Grange first met in the old Wilburn Hall in Eagle Creek which was located only a short distance from the present hall. In April 1902, a committee was appointed to purchase land and build a hall. The first meeting was held in the new hall on June 19, 1904 and the mortgage paid in full in May 1908. In the 1930, a stairwell has added to the second story and the hall was electrified. In 1948, when the junior Grange was organized a telephone was installed. The Grange hall burned down in 1959 and a new hall, made of concrete block, was built and dedicated on March 10, 1961. The grange hosts an Easter Egg Hunt on the Saturday before Easter, has a sweethearts dinner in February and two flea markets in April and October 17

Frogpond #111-Clackamas County

27350 SW Stafford Rd, Wilsonville Meets 4th Thursday potluck 6:30 pm, 7:30 pm meeting Frogpond Grange was organized on February 12, 1874 and was originally called Tualatin Grange #111 in Clackamas County. In 1973, the Grange voted to change the name to Frogpond Grange In addition to the regular use by the Grange, St. Michael’s Anglican Church holds weekly Sunday services at the Hall. Frogpond Grange is also the home of Wilsonville Theater Company and hosts a 4-H club. Frogpond Grange holds the distinction of having the first female Grange Master in Oregon; Mrs. Lydia Carter.

Harding #122 – Clackamas County

21552 S Fischers Mill Rd, Estacada Meets 1st Saturday Apr-June & Aug; 2nd Sat Jul & Sept 7 pm; potluck 6 pm Oct-Mar 1 pm, potluck noon The Harding Grange was organized on February 27, 1874 and in 1875 the grange seal was purchased for $4.00. The first years were tough and on April 27, 1877, Harding Grange and Viola Grange consolidated. The Harding Grange was closed and not reopened until March 6, 1886. In November 1892, Grangers donated enough funds to being building a new Grange Hall. Harding Grange was the sponsor of the first lending library in Clackamas County and started out with a set of encyclopedia and some other wonderful books. The bookcase to hold these items was originally purchased in 1898 and is still in the Grange Hall. The original hall was torn down a few years ago and replaced with a pole building type structure. Harding Grange has a pancake breakfast and Easter Egg hunt on the Saturday before Easter and a Ham Dinner in the spring and a Turkey Dinner in November. The Annual Flea Market & Garage Sale held in June each year is an important community event.

Maplewood #662 – Clackamas County

25480 S Hwy 99E, Aurora Meets 2nd Tues 7:30 pm; potluck 6:30 pm Maplewood Grange was organized in the Barlow City hall on March 6, 1925. In May 1925 a building was purchased for $500 plus $646 for repairs. The Grange sponsored dances and a 4-H club in the early years. In the late 1930’s the hall was declared unsafe and the membership voted to tear it down and build on a new site. In March 1938, a new site at the Top of the Hill, near Aurora was selected and a new building was built in three months. The Grange is active, making donations to Christmas Food Boxes and renting the hall to a church and a couple of square dance groups. Maplewood Grange annually provides a $500 scholarship to a graduating FFA member at Canby High School 18

Milwaukie #268 - Clackamas County

12015 SE 22nd St, Milwaukie Meets 3rd Sat 7:30 pm; potluck 6:30 pm Milwaukie Grange was originally organized as Milwaukie Grange #200 in 1879 and was closed and consolidated with Evening Star Grange in 1887. Milwaukie Grange # 268 was reorganized on April 28, 1894. Meetings were held at the old school and in October 1899, two lots were purchased in downtown Milwaukie to build a hall. The building was completed on November 11, 1933. This building was sold in July 1944 and 4 lots with houses were purchased on River Road. The lots were cleared and one of the oldest houses in town was remodeled to make the Grange Hall with the addition of bathrooms and a main meeting room. This new building was dedicated on June 24, 1956. Today, Milwaukie Grange is the oldest community organization or business in Milwaukie, Oregon. This Grange is almost always in use with a variety of renters including dance groups and churches.

Redland #796- Clackamas County

18131 S Fishers Mill Rd, Oregon City Meets 2nd Thursday potluck 6 pm meeting at 7:00 pm Redland Grange was organized on December 14, 1931 with thirty eight charter members. The first meetings were held in an old building owned by Moulton Sprague. This building burned down in 1932 and the need for a permanent hall was realized. Mr. Sprague donated the land and a basement was start in April 1932. Meetings were first held in the unfinished building in June 1932 and the building was completed by January 1936. Ongoing community service project of the Grange is the clean- up of Hatten and Fisher’s Mill Roads. Redland Grange donates the use of these hall for community and youth meetings and donates dictionaries as part of the Word’s for Thirds to Carver Elementary School Redland Grange is a three time winner of the National Grange Distinguished Grange Award, which honors Subordinate Granges that fulfill their responsibilities as part of the National Grange while excelling in the areas of membership, fundraising, and service to their communities.

Springwater #263-Clackamas County

24591 S. Wallens Rd, Estacada Meets 4th Monday 7:30 pm; potluck 6:30 pm Springwater Grange was organized in 1893. The hall was built along the south side of Wallens Road on land donated by Christopher Guttridge. The first meeting in the new hall was the hosting of Clackamas county Pomona #1. In 1950 and 1951, the Grange built a new hall out of boards that were taken from the Springwater School and old Grange building. A two room building was built out of these boards by remodeling a play shed. The Grange annually sponsors a Community Fair in September and in each February holds a Community Pie Auction to raise funds for their scholarships. In March, the Community Dinner Theater is a sold out event. The Grange is the center of the community and hosts meetings of two 4-H clubs, an annual New Years Day Open House and a Community Halloween Party. One of the important social events is the Annual Strawberry Social held each June which features the largest strawberry shortcake in Clackamas County 19

The Sandy #392 – Clackamas County

34705 SE Kelso Rd, Boring Meets 2nd Saturday 6:30 pm potluck, 7:30 pm meeting The Sandy Grange was organized in 1909. The first Master (President) was Elijah Coleman, a famous mountain man of the Sandy, Mt. Hood area. The Grange purchased a building in the center of Sandy and held meetings there for many years until that building was condemned. Then in 1946, the Grange bought the Kelso Grade School, which was built in 1905. Community Service at The Sandy Grange includes a twice yearly clean-up of a two mile stretch of Kelso Road; school supplies for the students at Kelso School as well as dictionaries for the third grade students. Food is donated to the Sandy Community Action Center to help feed the hungry in the community. Letters and cards are written to veterans in hospitals to help cheer them, especially at holidays. Fund-raisers include Bingo on the 1st and 3rd Friday, dinner at 6:00 pm and Bingo from 7:00 p.m. to 9:00 pm. Pancake Breakfast is the last Sunday from 8:00 a.m. to 12:00 noon. An “Anything Goes” sale is held the last Saturday and Sunday in April from 8:00 am to 3:00 pm. In September each year the Grange sells Curly fries and onion rings at the local Sandy Oktoberfest

Warner #117 – Clackamas County

10100 S New Era Rd, Canby Meets 3rd Thursday 6:45 pm potluck, 8 pm meeting Warner Grange was first organized in February 1874 and met in Oregon City until 1890 when they started meeting at the Spiritual Hall at Camp New Era. In 1920, the land was purchased at the present site of the hall and a new Grange Hall was built. Over time electricity and plumbing were added to the hall.. Warner Grange Hall at New Era is listed on the Clackamas County inventory of Historic Buildings and is a prominent landmark in the area. Warner Grange is activity in the community and provides dictionaries to four schools; Carus Elementary and Philander Lee Elementary, Mill Park Elementary and Portland Lutheran Elementary

Pine Grove #356 –Hood River County

2850 Van Horn Dr, Hood River Meets 1st Tuesday at 7pm It was on December 6, 1905, that the 77charter members of Pine Grove Subordinate Grange No. 356 met at the old Pine Grove schoolhouse, affixed their signature to the official charter, elected their first roster of officers, 16 in number, and were thus officially launched on a career that has endured to the present day. It was the first subordinate Grange in Hood River County. The current Grange Hall originally served as a general store and the upstairs was a community dance hall. Today the Playhouse uses the upstairs stage for its productions. Over 60 years ago the Pine Grove Grange started the Hood River Valley Blossom Festival, which is held annually the third full weekend in April, with a dinner. 20

Barlow Gate Grange was organized in 1874.

A major project of the Barlow Gate Grange is the Lenore Walters Scholarship Fund which is funded by a dinner held each March. Barlow Gate Grange has their annual Christmas Bazaar the Saturday after Thanksgiving with crafters, food and an appearance by Santa. The Grange participates in the Adopt-a-Highway program and is responsible for cleaning part of the Wamic Market Road.

The Granges holds a famous 4th of July Breakfast; the yearly fundraiser is used to cover Grange operating expenses. It combines great food, a good cause and a get together with friends and neighbors.

The community wide Barlow Trail Rendezvous Days is held on Labor Day Weekend and has a breakfast sponsored by Wamic Rural Fire Department at Barlow Gate Grange - all 3 mornings starting at 7:30am.

Cherry Park #667-Wasco County

1002 Lambert Rd, The Dalles Meets 4th Wednesday 7 pm

Grange was organized in 1925 in Cherry Park Addition to The Dalles, the main streets in that vicinity being Lambert, Bing and Royal Anne Avenues. In 1928 Three Mile Grange consolidated with Cherry Park.

A local magnet for musical talent is the Cherry Park Grange. They offer Saturday night dances on the 1st and 3rd and host the Jammers on the second Sundays. In commemoration of the 100th anniversary of the first settlement of Pioneers in The Dalles, Cherry Park Grange in May 1952 had made for sale, Historical Picture Plates, depicting scences of early history of The Dalles.

Mosier #234 - Wasco County

900 4th Ave, Mosier Meets 1st Tuesday 7 pm; potluck 3rd Tuesday 6:30 pm

The Mosier Grange was established in 1889, met in various locations including the Odd Fellows Hall before purchasing the current building form the Mosier Baptist Church.

The Mosier Grange sells local cherries, with sales running from the end of June thru July. The cherries will be sold from a stand located on the lot at the East end of the Mosier Fruit Grower’s building. The funds generated from the Grange cherry sales are used during the coming year to support the Mosier Grange and community The Grange Hall provides a meeting place for farm and agriculture related groups to meet. The hall is used as the place for the Community Dinner held in April.

The Mosier Grange provides scholarships to local high school seniors, sends Goodie Boxes sent to local servicemen. The Grange also supports the local 4-H groups, the Mosier Community School and the Wasco County Fair. The Mid Columbia Ukulele players meet at the Mosier Grange on the first and third Sunday of each month.

The Mosier Grange has recently been designated as a Red Cross Emergency Shelter 21

Ramsey Park #352 - Wasco County

Ramsey Park Grange was organized in 1905.

The Dufur Boys hold a jam session at the Ramsey Park Grange on the first Sunday of the month for musicians of all skill levels. The Grange sells slices of homemade pie at these jam sessions which allows them to maintain their hall. The Annual Ramsey Park Grange Breakfast is held in October with serving happening from 5:00am to 10:00am at the Grange. The Grange also serves a pancake breakfast during the annual Dufur Threshing Bee held every August.

Community Service actitives of Ramsey Park Grange include Adopt- a-Highway for Dufur Valley Road, providing two scholarship to seniors at Dufur High School and hosting the 4-H Awards Night each fall for 4-H’ers in Wasco County.

Washington-Yamhill Pomona

At the April Washington Yamhill Pomona meeting held at Leedy Grange, Mark and Julie Schnetzky were awarded The Granger of the Year. Master, Marilyn Reiher presented the two plaques to Julie, as Mark could not attend that day. Julie was very surprised and thanked everyone for their support. "It is an honor to receive this award, I was not aware that someone was keeping record of what we were doing at Tigard Grange. Nor was I aware that we have done so much." Julie expressed after hearing the letter of application listing all the recent activities and achievements they had been involved with at Tigard Grange, Pomona and State Grange.

Open House April 27, 2013 With the leadership of Erich Baisch and the members of the Fernwood Grange, the Hall was in grand form for the Community open house on Saturday, April 27, 2013 for Grange Month!

Signs were up, flag flying proudly, Pomona banner displayed and the Hall was clean in preparation of this ‘revitalization’ Open House. Community was well represented with the Newberg Fire and Rescue, Newberg Police Department, Newberg City Council, Whistle Stop Shetland Farm, Flock and Fiber chairperson – Brandy Chastain, Bide a Wee Farm, Newberg FFA, C.A.R.E., blood pressure check, S & A Irish Entertainment, Corral Creek Bluegrass Band, Donna the face painter, Veterans, Grange Historical Chair – Theresa Thorud. And the Grange members provided free coffee, punch and fresh cookies that were served all day!

The community that attended went away with more knowledge on the Grange, safety, their blood pressure, FFA programs and the awards recently received by some outstanding youth, Irish dance, local products, by-pass project and the community!
