The study is based on a benthic survey carried out in spring 2007, a few months after completion of the wind farm. During this survey the benthic fauna was sampled within the wind farm itself and in 6 reference areas lying north and south of it. Sampling took place mainly with a boxcorer, but there was also a limited programme with a Triple‐D dredge. The occurrence of possible effects was analyzed by comparing characteristics of the macrobenthos within the wind farm with those in the reference areas. A quantitative comparison of these characteristics with those observed during a baseline survey carried out 4 years before was hampered by a difference in sampling design and methodological differences. The conclusions of this study can be summarized as follows: 1. Based on the Bray‐Curtis index for percentage similarity there appeared to be great to very great similarity in the fauna composition of OWEZ and the majority of the reference areas.

Biodiversity Data Journal 5: e12731. https://doi.org/10.3897/BDJ.5.e12731 Abstract Aim: The aim of this study was to assess the biodiversity and community structure of Swedish meiofaunal eukaryotes using metabarcoding. To validate the reliability of the metabarcoding approach, we compare the taxonomic resolution obtained using the mitochondrial cytochrome oxidase 1 (COI) ‘mini-barcode’ and nuclear 18S small ribosomal subunit (18S) V1-V2 region, with traditional morphology-based identification of Xenacoelomorpha and Nematoda. Location: 30 samples were analysed from two ecologically distinct locations along the west coast of Sweden. 18 replicate samples of coarse shell sand were collected along the north- eastern side of Hållö island near Smögen, while 12 replicate samples of soft mud were collected in the Gullmarn Fjord near Lysekil.

  • An Annotated Checklist of the Marine Molluscs of the South Adriatic Sea (Montenegro) and a Comparison with Those of Neighbouring Areas

As a baseline for future studies that will enhance the knowledge of this fauna, we have compiled a checklist combining the existing published data with original data from a recent research. Examination of sampled material and a review of the relevant literature revealed the presence of 354 mollusc species. Twelve species have been recorded for the first time in Montenegrin waters, 7 species are of non-native origin while 14 taxa are recognized as endangered and threatened, according to the IUCN Red List and the Barcelona/Berne Conventions. A comparison of our results with those of the neighbouring seas indicates that mollusc fauna is insufficiently studied, but we should bear in mind that the number of recorded species in relation to the size of the researched area points to a rich malacofauna zone. Keywords: Marine molluscs, checklist, alien species, Montenegro, Adriatic Sea. Introduction From a geomorphologic viewpoint, the Montenegrin coast can be divided into two main Molluscs are important components of marine parts: the Bay of Boka Kotorska and the open sea.
