A fair entry of prime cattle for the time of year met a similar trade to recent weeks. Butcher’s type cattle with good conformation and finish are selling to the best premium. Top price per kilo was 190p realised for both a steer and heifer, the steer which was also the top value selling at £1,408 for Mr. D. Jenkin of Manaccan, to Trevarthens of Roskrow. The heifer at 190p was sold on behalf of Mr. R. H. Eddy of Tehidy purchased by Harvey Bros. Butchers of St. Ives, and .

A similar number of cull cows to last week met a strong trade especially for well-covered cows, both beef and dairy types. A huge Charolais cow sold to 159p/kg and £1,650 to David King of Exeter. Top Friesian at 122p/kg for Messrs. A. D. & J. A. Bray of St. Martin with top value at 839kg and 120p/kg for Messrs. C. J. & J. E. Colwell of Grampound both purchased by Dawn West Devon of Hatherleigh.

A light entry which is usual at this time of the year with farmers in the middle of harvest. Trade was strong for the mainly younger cattle on offer. Top price of the day at £985 was for a 2 year old Aberdeen Angus x steer from Mr. N. C. P. Clemens of Gwinear. Top heifers were a superb pair of Limousins from Tresco Estate, Isles of Scilly at £885.
