The following itinerary is just a suggestion as to the order of events and may be subject to minor changes.

Monday, October 26 Individuals depart from U.S. on self-arranged flights.

Tuesday, October 27 Arrival to airport. Make own way to group accommodation. Information will be provided for different transport options. Balance of day to settle in.

Wednesday, October 28 Breakfast at the hotel and Q and A with AIFS staff AM Walking tour of Meiji Shrine. Located in the Shibuya area, it is a shrine dedicated to Emperor Meiji and his wife. PM Free afternoon for self-exploration Eve Group Meal

Thursday, October 29 Breakfast at the hotel AM Visit to Shrine, followed by a river cruise from Asakusa to Hamarikyu, with a visit to traditional gardens and entrance to the Tokyo Tower PM Free afternoon for self-exploration Eve Traditional Japanese cooking class including Sake Tasting

Friday, October 30 Breakfast at the hotel Free day for independent activities

Saturday, October 31 Breakfast at the hotel. Luggage will be forwarded to Kyoto and participants will travel with hand luggage only. AM Transfer to Kyoto by bullet train PM Arrive to Kyoto early afternoon. Check into hotel and refresh, then have a private walking tour of Higashiyama district with the services of a professional, English-speaking guide. Higashiyama is one of the best-preserved areas of Kyoto.

Sunday, November 1 Breakfast at the hotel. AM Guided tour of Nijo Castle, world heritage site which was built as the Kyoto residence of Tokugawa Ieyasu, the first shogun of the . PM Traditional tea ceremony. Balance of the day free. Monday, November 2 Breakfast at the hotel Daytrip to Nara by public transportation including walking tour with the services of a professional, English-speaking guide and entrance to Todaji-temple (Great Buddha Hall). Nara was the first permanent capital of Japan, established in 710. It is home to many temples, shrines and the famous Nara deer park.

Should San Mateo County Community College District wish to run this program with enrollment below 10 paying participants, it would be necessary either to add a supplement to the fee above or to remove some components from the program. AIFS would discuss these options with San Mateo County Community College District.

These fees are guaranteed not to change as a result of fluctuations in the $ exchange rate. AIFS will charge a $35 returned check fee on each check returned by the bank for insufficient funds.

The AIFS program fee of $4,045.00 is based on an enrollment of 10-14 participants and includes the following:

• Accommodation in twin-bedded rooms (bedding may be Japanese or Western style) in centrally-located, a 3-star hotel in each location, including linens/towels, Wifi, and daily breakfast • Orientation program in Japan consisting of a meeting with AIFS staff on information such as safety and security, a welcome dinner and a local area walking tour • One-way high-speed rail ticket between Tokyo and Kyoto with luggage forwarding service for one bag up to 23kg • An integrated circuit (IC) smart card pre-loaded with ¥6,000 (¥3000 loaded for Kyoto and ¥3000 loaded for Tokyo) valid for travel on all JR trains, trams, subways and buses in Kyoto and Tokyo.
