EXPERIENCE CHICAGO GROWTH CONSULTANTS, LLC 2008 - PRESENT Established consultancy providing business advisory services and interim management to several firms. Primary service offering was to improve sales capability and capacity to drive profitable growth.  Engaged in a nine-month project to architect and implement a technology-enabled new business for a Washington, D.C.-based international professional association. Wrote and implemented business plan, selected technology vendor and drove hiring of permanent staff. Official launch is October 2013.  Reporting to CEO and CMO of the world’s largest ($8B) casino and entertainment business in Las Vegas during a 14 month engagement, developed and implemented plan to launch new line of business. Built sales organization in UK and US and hired marketing executive to oversee execution of multi-million dollar digital marketing campaign. Concept officially launched in November 2009 with 2010 revenue plan of $27M. As a byproduct of this effort, architected and assisted in implementation of overall sales transformation initiative for this traditionally marketing driven enterprise.  Other clients included a publications business in Detroit, large digital advertising agency, international food distributor and a professional services business in Florida.  Author of Second Stage Entrepreneurship, Ten Strategies to Drive Aggressive Growth, which will be published by Macmillan/Palgrave in October 2013

ACCRETIVE SOLUTIONS, INC., Chicago, IL 2010 - Sept. 2011 Accretive Solutions is a privately held, national professional services firm providing solutions that improve financial, operational and IT performance. Firm was a classic GTCR roll-up which started in 1999, and did relatively well until 2008. Accretive was purchased in April 2010 by 4 institutional investors, and the subsequent financial restructuring resulted in departure of CEO and CFO.

Chief Executive Officer Recruited to develop and execute an aggressive growth plan for stalled professionals services roll-up. This business that for each of the prior 3 years had been unprofitable became profitable in June of 2011 and remained so through my tenure.

Accomplishments included:  Recruited and hired entirely new executive team including CFO, VP of HR and Director of IT.  Top-graded the entire sales organization – turned over more than one half of inherited team and instilled professional sales management tools, process and discipline.  Eliminated several non-performing business units.  Executed one acquisition of a Boston-based boutique consultancy in January 2011 to establish New England presence.  Opened Chicago market organically in November 2010.  Moved headquarters and shared services from Melville, NY to Chicago to garner efficiencies and reduce cost, including moving all of IT to “the Cloud”.

CAPITAL H GROUP LLC, Chicago, IL 2003 - 2009 Human Capital Consultancy providing talent and leadership services to some of the world’s largest companies. Started in May of 2003 from a business plan, attracted two rounds of private equity and built a global firm. Ranked in top 15% on the Inc. 5000 list of fastest growing private companies in US 2007, 2008 and 2009.

Chairman (2008 – 2009) Transitioned to Non-Executive Chairman in August of 2008, passing day-to-day operating responsibilities to original Co- Founder and Partners. Resigned from Board November 2009. Capital H Group was sold in two separate transactions in 2010.

Co-Founder and Chief Executive Officer (2003 – 2008) Conceived idea, wrote business plan, raised capital and recruited two partners to build out human capital services firm. Early growth was organic, supplemented by three acquisitions. 300+ people worldwide with more than half of revenue coming from outside US.  Raised nearly $40M in institutional private equity investment in three rounds.  Built a firm that achieved stellar reputation providing outstanding work to clients, including world-renowned organizations.  Acquired London-based leadership consultancy and assessment firm in 2007, significantly expanding geographic footprint and reducing dependency on US market.

PARSON GROUP, LLC, Chicago, IL 1995 - 2002 Finance, accounting, and business systems consultancy that delivers solutions to large corporations. Started from a business plan in early 1995. Company received $4M in initial venture backing and opened its first office in July of 1995. Parson was ranked as #1 fastest growing private company in US in October 2000 issue of Inc. Magazine. Clients included CEOs, CFOs, and senior financial managers of Fortune 1000 and FTSE 100 firms.

Founder and Chief Executive Officer Conceived idea and developed business plan for niche financial consultancy. Raised $14M of institutional /private equity in three rounds. Parson Group grew organically from a single office started in July of 1995 in Chicago to 14 offices in cities in US and UK in 2002. As Founder and CEO, assembled Board of prominent, nationally recognized senior executives, built out service lines and hired leadership and staff required to fuel high-growth company.  Revenue grew (organically) from $200K in 1995 to a run rate of over $90M, and employment grew to over 500 professionals. Parson Group was listed as #1 fastest growing private company in US in October 2000 issue of Inc. Magazine.  The company, especially well positioned in light of Sarbanes–Oxley Act of 2002, was sold to Management Consulting Group, PLC, a UK listed public company for cash in June of 2002, yielding investors very attractive private equity level returns.

ALTERNATIVE RESOURCES CORPORATION (ARC), Lincolnshire, IL 1989 - 1994 ARC provided information technology operations outsourcing, consulting and staffing solutions to large corporations throughout US and Canada.  April of 1994, ARC filed for a public offering, and became second best performing on NASDAQ in 1994.  In early 1995, on a total equity investment of $2M, company achieved a market capitalization of $600M.

Executive Vice President Specifically recruited to assume role of “number two” executive with complete sales and operations responsibility. Reported to CEO with strong dotted line to Chairman, provided management and leadership necessary to execute field rollout for this then startup, $3M, five-location, venture capital-backed (Wind Point Partners) private company.  Over five years, opened and managed 22 additional offices, recruited sales force exceeding 75 and organically grew revenues to over $100M, including hiring 1500 employees and developing three entirely new service lines.  ARC was ranked #13 on 1993 Inc. Magazine list of 500 fastest growing private US companies, held the #43 spot on 1994 Forbes list of fastest growing public companies and was honored as one of top 25 companies in US for which to work.

Prior Work Experience included 8-year career (1979-1987) at General Electric Company, where I was one of 20 selected nationwide and hired directly from college into sales training program (STEP) for GE’s $800M global computer services subsidiary. Promoted quickly from sales trainee into positions of increasing responsibility in two different General Electric divisions and four different locations. Success resulted in rapid promotion to field sales management positions in Northeast and Chicago. Received GE Management Award in 1986 for outstanding personal effort.
