We wish a warm welcome to the players, officials and supporters from Ardley who have made the journey for this fixture and wish them a safe Senior Section journey home. A particularly warm welcome to former QPR player Kevin Brock. First Team – TBA Well what a good weekend it was for our sides in other sections of the Club. On Sunday the Ladies First Team Tracksuits & T-shirts – C.S. Building Services side won 1-0 in their final fixture of the season to claim runners-up spot behind Gloucester City Ladies in the Gloucestershire County Womens League. The Under 18 Floodlit side made it and Macmillan Cancer Support through to the final of the FA County Youth Cup, only the second time in the Clubs history that Reserves – Ganges Indian Cuisine we have made the final of this prestigious competition. Hopefully Danny Grooms side can go one better than the 2004-05 side and lift the trophy for the first time in the Clubs history. Based on Under 18 Floodlit – Quickmovenow.com previous years the final should be at the County Ground. Congratulations also to Paul Burke and Ladies – Aftech Sheet metal & fabrications and Mal Chivers Under 11 side who guaranteed at least runners-up spot with a win in their penultimate game of the season. They now have to hope that Pewsey Vale drop points in their two bristol batteries of their final three fixtures whilst Bassett win their own final game if they are to finish as champions. YOUTH SECTION Last week saw two tough fixtures involving sides from Bracknell. On Tuesday night I witnessed a very good team performance away at Wokingham & Emmbrook. The game finished 0-0 but was Under 18 – Aftech Limited an entertaining game with Wootton Bassett having the better of the chances. We went closest to Under 16 Girls - SciMAT Ltd scoring in the dying seconds when Craig Bowden hit the bar with a header and Adam Topping was just denied from the rebound. The defence were excellent all night and this bodes well for the rest Under 16 - K & M Developments, C.S. Building Services, of the season. On Saturday Bracknell visited Rylands Way for the first time since our FA Cup A.T. Kitchin Homes meeting a few seasons ago. A James Turner goal gave us a half time lead but the visitors Under 15 - GSL UK Limited equalised on 76 minutes to ensure a share of the points. With Carterton securing another excellent point against Shortwood the battle at the bottom to avoid that fourth relegation spot remains as Under 14 Girls - TBA tight as ever. Under 14A – The Barber Shop, Tonight will be a very tough encounter against an Ardley United side who look like champions PAS Construction, CCTV Nationwide, elect as they now lead the table by some nine points, although Binfield have a couple of games in Surehome Construction, Wason & Webb hand. With two matches to play still against Binfield we could still have a say in the destination of the title, particularly if the team can play like they did at Wokingham & Emmbrook. Under 14B – TBA Looking at what is in tonights programme, Manager Dave Turner looks back at recent games in his Under 12 – C.S. Building Services From The Dugout column. The From the Archives feature this week goes back to 1986-87 and a Under 11 – Total Value Consultancy, I.C.C. Car & fourth placed finish in the Wiltshire County League. There is the usual updated league table of the Commercial Vehicle Body Repairs, Clubs own Fantasy Football League. The Youth Section page includes a round-up from young Luke Walduck from games played on Sunday 13th of March and the results of matches played on Babcock Homesafe everyday Sunday 20th March. There is a match report from the local Bracknell newspaper on the game away Under 10A - Quattro Group, High Motive at Wokingham & Emmbrook. There is a match report from Scoop from the game between Wootton Bassett Town and Ardley United played here at Rylands Way in Season 2004-5, the last Under 10B - WGS Power & Lighting Ltd, High Motive time the two sides were in the same division. This weeks World of Soccer article is provided by Under 9 - S.D.C. South Marston Andy Walduck, the Club Development Officer and Vice Chairman. Under 8 - TBA The next First Team game at Rylands Way is next Tuesday when Binfield visit Rylands Way. Dave Topping WORLD OF FOOTBALL • Club Treasurer this week, Andy Walduck, Club Development Officer WBTFC - Moving forward.

The Club continues to drive forward working to deliver the objectives within our Development Plan. We are set to create two U8 teams for next season, this is the second season in row, and demonstrates how successful the link is between Community Football and the Youth section has become. We have also successfully completed the Charter Standard health check, with no observations, the club has retained Charter Standard Community Club Rod Carter status.

The Holland Tour is set to leave the UK early April as we take three youth teams to South Netherlands, based around Dordrecht. This is great experience for the children, however, a long few days for the attending adults. • Club Secretary Over the last few months very good progress has been made on pushing forward our sponsorship offerings, the Commercial Prospects has been completed and a real drive has been made with local business as we look for support. We are expecting to see the financial benefits within the next three months or so, this is good news and sets the club up for next season, credit goes out to all those involved. If you would like to sponsor our club, in any way, please visit our web site, www.wbtfc.co.uk, and take a look at our prospectus, it would be great to have you on board.

Our Youth Section ethos is to provide players of good quality to the Senior section, this feed Gill Gascoigne is important as it offers the motivation for our up and coming teenagers to work hard knowing that they may get the call for the First Team one day. For me, I would like to see more integration between our U18's, Reserves and First Team, but I recognise this will take time to establish, to have local grown talent who have come through the youth setup would be the perfect situation. I know there has been 2-3 Reserve players knocking on the door of the First Team, long may this continue. • Youth Section Secretary

Behind the scenes work continues on our pending relocation, I do not have any positive news to offer at this time, but we will know more towards the backend of the summer.

Finally just a quick thank you to all our volunteers who continue to support our club.

Firstly I would like to welcome the players, officials and supporters of Ardley to Rylands Way. We hope you enjoy your short stay with us and will join us all for a drink in the bar after the game.

Our form over the last few games has been very good. We have taken points of two in form teams, namely Wokingham away and Bracknell on Saturday at home. With a little bit of luck we could have quit easily won both them games. The discipline and desire at Wokingham was superb. If we had shown that same discipline on Saturday against Bracknell I am convinced we would have seen that game out and won it 1- 0.

Those two results were very good but at the same time we were disappointed not to have more points to show for our efforts. But with such a young side we have to accept that will happen from time to time. In my opinion we are making fewer mistakes now and we are definitely moving in the right direction.

This evening is a game we are all looking forward to. It is the sort of game we all aspired to be part of while we were trying to win promotion to this league last year. Ardley are probably champions in waiting and only a couple of weeks ago they put 4 goals past us at their ground. This evening will not be any easier but I would rather be playing Ardley than facing Cricklade. No disrespect to Cricklade

Ardleys team is littered with players who have all played at a higher level and most of them have played a few hundred games as well. That coupled with a healthy budget is why they are in such a good position. That said there are a few teams in this league with a healthy budget but only one team can win the league and as I have already said, I believe tonights opponents will hold there nerve and go on to win the league.

We on the other hand have no budget and are made up of young honest local players. We regularly play 4 or 5 teenagers and most of our team have not even played 30 games at this level yet. All that said I am very pleased with the progress we have made over the last few seasons and we can only learn from playing the top teams like Ardley. Like Ardley we need to hold our nerve and pick up a couple of wins so that we can compete at this level again next season.

The visitors best chance fell to Delaney just before the 1934/35 Calne & District League Champions interval, but his well-struck effort went inches wide. Calne & District League Cup Winners 1935/36 Calne & District League Champions The second half was much the same as the first with both sides struggling to gain the upper Calne & District League Cup Runners-up hand. Wootton Bassetts Boucher curled a free-kick just wide of the far post, while Sam Whiting set off on a good run that took him past three defenders, but his effort lacked power 1938/39 Brotherhood Cup Winners and direction and Teague saved easily. Wootton Bassett had a great chance to snatch victory in the 81st minute when 1958/59 Wiltshire League Division 1 Champions Turner [was actually Bowden] rose unchallenged to plant a firm header against the bar from 1978/79 Wiltshire County League Division 2 Runners-up close in, with the follow-up effort charged down by the Wokingham defence. With the final Wiltshire County League Subsidiary Cup Winners whistle only seconds away Duffelen shot inches wide of the post, meaning Wokingham had 1982/83 Wiltshire County League Division 4 Runners-up to settle for a point, a fair reflection of a game neither side did enough to warrant winning. 1983/84 Wiltshire County League Ghia Senior Cup Winners Manager Roger Herridge was obviously disappointed. “I can’t fault our effort overall, but both sides lacked the quality to win it, and a point apiece 1984/85 Wiltshire County League Division 2 Champions was a fair result,” he said.
