GIRLS’ INTERMEDIATE VOLLEYBALL

After winning their Divisional tournament on November 7th , the girls’ volleyball team went in search of their third straight Regional title at Monsignor Percy Johnson High School.

Playing champions from three other divisions in the round robin, All Saints got off to a quick start against their main rival from St. Clement. The team played well defensively and won the first set 25-21. The second set was even more tightly contested, but the girls came out on the losing end 23-25.

The girls then went on a four-set winning streak, defeating teams from St. Roch and St. Elizabeth by a combined score of 100-60.

In the first set of the final, the girls got off to a fantastic start, building an early 13-2 lead. St. Clement went on a short serving run to make the game closer, but All Saints continued to play aggressively and came out on top by a score of 25-13.

The second set was a much tighter contest, with the two West giants going toe-to-toe. St. Clement got out to an early 5-1 lead before our girls caught up, backed by two strong serving runs. With the game tied at 13-13, All Saints began to pull ahead with some thunderous attacks and stout defense. The girls didn’t look back and took the second set 25-16.

Congratulations and good luck to the Regional Champions as they travel to the City finals at Centennial College in Scarborough on November 30th!

The team members are: Amelia Campoli, Eva Tiku, Kelly Cabrera, Christina Burnett, Naiyah Elder, Madeline Pelosi, Sienna Cappella, Kaelee Mallo, Ella Muia and Lauren Tome.

BOYS’ INTERMEDIATE VOLLLEYBALL

The boys’ intermediate volleyball team hosted the divisional round at All Saints in early November. The team faced stiff competition from four other schools: Our lady of Peace, St. Francis Xavier, Immaculate Conception and Josef Cardinal Slipyj. Having only been together for a few weeks, the boys got off to a bit of a nervy start, but then began to play some exceptional volleyball! The boys finished the tournament with an even record of 4 wins and 4 losses, ultimately losing out on the opportunity to play in the championship game by an extremely slim margin. Well Done Boys!

The team members are: Tristan Nguyen, Daniel Boza, Michael Grande, David Maksuti, Ezra Marino, Jason Agyei , Camillo Mazzucco, Julian Mandarino, Alexander Sabatin, Michael Perzia, Thomas Perzia, Nicholas Rose, Stephen Pace, and Johann Solomon.

Eco Schools

This year the Green Team is introducing a new initiative for the Christmas season. The season

for gift giving is upon us. During the Christmas

holidays, finding the right gift is only half the battle. Whatever the gift, you've still got to find a way to wrap it up. For years, people have relied on massive rolls of printed paper to hide presents from prying eyes. Yet every year, it only takes a few seconds to unwrap a gift, and all that shredded paper heads off to the landfill.

In the interest of reducing waste (over the Christmas holidays and every day), the All Saints Eco Team has decided to introduce an initiative to find more creative and more

sustainable ways to wrap a Christmas gift. Our goal will be to get people to use less wrapping paper in an effort to curb as much landfill-bound waste as we could this holiday season. Stay tuned for more information on this eco-friendly initiative.

The winning drawings will appear in The Register's Christmas edition, Dec. 24. The contest is open to children in Grades 1 to 8. Entries must be original, in colour, drawn or painted on a page 8.5” x 11” or larger and illustrate some aspect of the birth of Jesus as recorded in the Gospels. PRESTO Cards for TCDSB Students Over the past few weeks the Toronto Catholic District School Board and the Toronto Student Transportation Group have been working closely with the TTC on the logistics for providing complimentary PRESTO cards to all students ages 6 to 12 (child cards) and 13 to 19 (youth cards). The purpose of this initiative is to help students smoothly make the transition away from TTC passes, and tickets, to the PRESTO electronic fare card.

Please note that the TTC will stop selling tickets and tokens on August 3, 2019. The TTC is providing the PRESTO cards to school boards free of charge. Watch for more information to come from your school soon.

We Belong As we journey through the first year of our pastoral plan, “Rooted in Christ, we Belong, we Believe, we Become”, the Nurturing our Catholic Community Team invites you to share your ideas of belonging. We want to hear from our students and staff about how they are nurturing the concept of belonging and inclusion in their schools, in their families, in their parishes and their community.

We invite you to submit student artwork, written work, videos/slideshows, songs or any other creative expressions of belonging to [email protected] by no later than Friday, March 22, 2019.

When sharing your initiatives on social media, tweet or post @TCDSB with the hashtag #TCDSBelongs so we can follow your progress. For ideas and resources linked to our pastoral plan, click here.

All submissions will be featured on the TCDSB website, as well as at our year-end celebration to be held May 21st. All schools will be invited to send two representatives (any combination of student, parent, teaching or non-teaching staff, school administrator).

A poster is attached as a reminder. Please feel free to share with your staff and your CPSC members, and parishes!
