AT NORD EVERYTHING IS POSSIBLE VALLNORD - PAL ARINSAL
Vallnord is the umbrella brand for two ski resorts lo- Vallnord - Pal Arinsal is located in Massana. The annual Bike & Ski pass is a star product of Vallnord. Covering both the summer and the winter seasons, this valid pass has now taken firm root, after two years in operation. Its competitive price makes it one of the resort’s most popular products, with an ever-increasing demand among both locals and internatio- nal visitors. This winter, Vallnord is also consolidating its rechargeable pass, which was created last sea- son. This pass can be purchased initially at any Vallnord ticket office and can then be recharged at the Vallnord virtual store or at the ski pass vending machines located in different strategic spots throughout the ski resorts. The aim of this product is to make it easier for skiers to purchase their passes and prevent or at least redu- ce customer wait times. The cor- porate website has also undergone major changes, becoming far more user friendly and providing more content, as well as a direct channel for contact with customers via 2.0 tools. At the same time, Vallnord continues to bank on e-commer- ce, creating alluring and competitive products and services and impro- ving its sale procedures. NEWS

In Pal, the Beç and Transversal slopes will be expanded and an artificial snow system will be added to the Trans- versal slope.

The Vallnord - Pal Arinsal resort has two schools for alpine skiing, snowboarding, ski mountaineering and telemark skiing: one in Pal and the other in Arinsal. More than 200 qualified multilingual instructors give lessons in the diverse disci- plines and at the different levels of the skiers, from a beginner who has never worn a pair of skis, to an expert who wants to improve his/her technique or really get to know all the little corners of this resort in depth. Lessons can be private or in groups depending on the needs and background of the customers. The school also has a more exclu- sive product, the Snowplus Va- llnord, which offers season-long courses for children and their parents, as well as intensive week-long courses that coincide with school holidays. Snowplus Vallnord stands out for its edu- cational approach, which places priority on the enjoyment of the sport and environmental respect over performance or competition. PRICES

22 ADAPTED SKIING
The Arinsal ski school offers spe- cialised adapted ski lessons that allow skiers with different physi- cal or mental disabilities to enjoy alpine skiing, through the use of special equipment. The idea is to provide these skiers with special service and the instruction they need to break down barriers and make winter sports more acces- sible. The Snowsports School in Arin- sal is adapted to receive people in wheelchairs or who are missing a limb or who have learning, visual or hearing difficulties. The instructors who give the les- sons are highly qualified and certi- fied by the UK BASI (British Asso- ciation of Snowsport Instructors). Moreover, the association DSUK (Disability Snowsports UK) pro- vides the material and specialised training, which therefore guaran- tees the quality and effectiveness of the equipment used.
23 ACTIVITIES
The Vallnord – Pal Arinsal resort offers the widest range of com- plementary activities to skiing, for families and groups of friends. The resort has three main hubs: El Pla- nell and Coll de la Botella, in the Pal sector, and Comallemple, in Arinsal. The Pal sector brings together the most family-oriented activities, as well as those geared for the youn- gest members of the household. El Planell has a sledding slope and also offers mushing, jumps, a rope adventure park, tubing and the BIG ZIP zipline. For its part, Coll de la Botella offers snowshoe and snow- mobile outings; whereas in Arinsal the snow buggies are the most po- pular activity. Both sectors of Vallnord – Pal Arin- sal also offer Snow Ratrac: outings in the snow grooming machines that afford visitors access to the slopes outside of the regular time- table, allowing them to discover one of the resort’s least visible and most essential tasks. These outings can be paired with dinners at altitude at certain restaurants that are open at night.

26 Vallnord Snowparks is Vallnord’s freestyle ski project. On the one hand, the Arinsal sector has one of the most famous areas in Southern Europe for this kind of skiing; and on the other hand, there is now also a beginner freestyle area in the Pal sector. The project is backed by the ASP Snowparks team of shapers, who embarked on this adventu- re during the 2009-2010 season and have put all their skill into the construction of modules and jumps to guarantee that all tricks can be performed safely. The freestyle ski area has its own ski lift and snow groomer, making for a fast turna- round time, with no need for skiers to leave the area. The Snowpark is made up of three areas to accom- modate the different user levels, and includes modules and jumps adapted to the needs of each type of user. The expert area has beco- me the snowpark’s most highly regarded zone, and internationally renowned riders can often be seen there, training for their competiti- ons. The Vallnord Snowparks pro- ject is complete with a sponsored team of riders who primarily come from Andorra and Spain.

This is a great opportunity for skiers to put their skills to the test on a World Cup circuit.

Vallnord - Pal Arinsal has 18 diffe- rent restaurants and eateries which dot both sectors, offering a wide va- riety of places and dishes. Over the last few years, virtually all of the res- taurants have been refurbished and redecorated to enhance the comfort of our guests and the relaxing at- mosphere of the mountains. This season, El Rústic in Pal will continue to renovate its image and menu, yet without giving up any of its charm as a high-mountain res- taurant, with all the warmth of its main construction materials: wood and stone. In Arinsal, the change will be most noted at Igloo, which has become a wooden chalet with a 180-square-metre terrace, all lo- cated within the snowpark. The food served by the restaurants of Vallnord – Pal Arinsal is very di- verse, including à la carte restau- rants, quality fast food, and even the Bio Bio brand, for organic food lovers. The restaurant service will also be extended beyond the ge- neral working hours of the resort, offering unique après-ski pairings that enable guests to enjoy a night in the snow and exclusively desig- ned activities.
