FREE CONCERT, FIREWORKS SHOW AND FIRST CHANCE TO BUY LICENSED MERCHANDISE AS ROCKET CITY TRASH PANDAS UNVEIL LOGOS, COLORS & CAPS

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

MADISON, – OCTOBER 22, 2018 –– The Rocket City Trash Pandas, Minor League ’s newest team, will unveil its logos, team colors and cap designs at a community celebration Saturday, October 27 at 6:00 pm at Dublin Park in Madison. The free event is open to the public and will include a concert, fireworks show and the first opportunity for Trash Pandas fans to purchase officially licensed merchandise. In conjunction with Brandiose of San Diego, the industry’s premiere branding partner, the Trash Pandas have selected six logos, four team colors, and a unique lettering template, to be featured on T-Shirts, sweatshirts, hoodies and non- uniform caps, all of which will be available for purchase in the temporary Trash Panda Emporium, located in the gymnasium at Dublin Park following the official logo unveiling ceremony. The team name was chosen September 5, culminating a two-month “Name the Team” contest which included just under 30,000 nominations and votes. Trash Pandas (nickname for raccoon) was overwhelmingly chosen by the community with a ballot descriptor “no creature is as smart, creative, determined and ingenious a problem solver – dedicated to the challenge at hand – as our local raccoons!” The team’s identity pays tribute to the region’s rich aerospace, engineering, and military heritage. Trash Pandas was nominated by local resident Matthew Higley of Lacey’s Spring, Alabama. “We are just so grateful for the unprecedented support we’ve received from Madison, Huntsville and throughout North Alabama, beginning with the largest crowd for a groundbreaking ceremony and highest participation in a naming contest in Minor League Baseball history – all the way to the most demand for merchandise that anybody in our industry has ever seen,” said BallCorps Managing Partner, Ralph Nelson. “It’s our honor to put on this concert and fireworks show to thank this amazing community and celebrate its incredible support.” “The Rocket City Trash Pandas launch received more engagement and more national attention than any launch in Minor League Baseball history,” said Brandiose's Jason Klein. “Fans are going to love seeing the experience come to life over the next year.” Local radio personality Mojo of 104.3 WZYP will again serve as Master of Ceremonies for the unveiling, which will take place at 6:40 pm, preceded by the naming of the winner of WHNT-TV’s Kid’s Logo Contest. Popular local band, Dirt Circus will headline the entertainment portion of the evening, playing from 6:00 to 6:40, and again from 7:00 to 8:00. At 8:00, a fireworks extravaganza will top off the evening in the skies over Dublin Park. The Trash Pandas Logo Unveiling Celebration is sponsored by Redstone Federal Credit Union, Re/Max, Rocket Republic Brewery and the Huntsville Hospital Sports Center. Attendees are asked to park at Bob Jones High School (650 Hughes Road in Madison). Shuttle service to Dublin Park begins at 5:15. Blankets and lawn chairs are recommended for the concert and fireworks show. Food trucks from Fire & Spice, Iceworks Shaved Ice, and What’s Popp’N will be open onsite. Alcohol is not permitted in Dublin Park. A full line of Trash Pandas merchandise will be available at the Trash Panda Emporium, opening next to the Apple Store at Bridge Street in Huntsville on November 12. More information on the Bridge Street store and season ticket policy will be forthcoming in the next several weeks. ###
