I would like to thank Felix, our pro, and Dawn White, (Director Phase 1) for putting this tournament together and making it an overwhelming success. We are possibly having another tournament in January. Keep your eyes open for that. Sunday, December 13th was a busy day here in Hollybrook. In the evening we had a band called the Fabulons. They were fantastic. Great vocals and fine musicianship. There were about 200 people in attendance and the dance floor was packed for almost every song. Our next show in the playhouse is January 17th with Sarge. He plays piano and is a standup comic. I hope to see you there. Always remember my office door is open to all. December, 2015

From: Citizens for the Elimination Rec Leases – Hollybrook

To: Each owner of a Rec Lease Apartment in Hollybrook i

We are a newly formed Club in Hollybrook of concerned apartment owners called "Citizens for The Elimination of Rec Leases" and we are moving forward to a class action lawsuit against "Hollybrook Condo Ventures. "

The time is overdue to get rid of this extra yearly payment of $2,544 (which provides NO DIRECT BENEFIT or SERVICE to us and continues to go up every 3 years). It is our belief this it can be resolved with a united effort.

Our goal is to eliminate the additional Hollybrook Condo Venture quarterly bill that we pay as owners with an unpaid Rec Lease. This is not our quarterly Hollybrook Maintenance bill, which we will continue to pay.

We need your support, along with all 188 owners with unpaid Rec Leases. We are reaching out to you for your support on how to benefit financially and helping our Hollybrook community to root out this unlawful practice. How can you join us and give your port? sup

Plans are for a preliminary meeting with Attorney Charles Otto, who is familiar with our situation, on January 13.2016 at 7:30 pm upstairs in the Social Hall. This meeting is at no cost and is open to all Unpaid Rec Lease apartment owners and others who want to help our community.

Watch Channel 92 and read The Voice of Hollybrook for updates and news to coordinate our efforts and get rid of this unlawful Join financial obligation. us and email us [email protected] at .

PLEASE PATRONIZE OUR ADVERTISERS January 2016 Page 51 hollybrook DO YOU BELIEVE PET-SITTING IN WITCHES? from Jerry McHugh, Exec. Deputy Fire Chief ret. Do you believe in Witches? Perhaps after you read this, you will. July 11th, 1979 saw a firebombing by three men, Hiram Perez, 16; his father, Matias, 53; and his brother-in-law, Luis Garcia, 25. Confessions taken by police that same day described how a Witch, Miss Maria Marin, who lived at 14-16 Harris St. placed a hex on Hiram by killing a dog, gutting it and putting Hiram’s picture inside it. The hex, police were told, made Hiram bark and bite like a dog. To rid the teen-ager of the hex, his family burned down the house, killing Miss Marin’s 73 year old mother and injuring two firemen. Maria Marin denied being a witch on the witness stand, saying she didn’t even believe in witchcraft. The three defendants also denied believing in witchcraft. The jury never heard any details about spells, potions or what the supposed witch did with the black dolls and candles on the table in her bedroom. Miss Marin and her 11 year old daughter testified as eye witnesses to the fire-bombing. They said they saw Garcia light the wick to a gasoline filled wine bottle and that Hiram threw it through the window. Hiram’s attorney attacked MaeMae Gutierrez,Gutierrez, M.D.M.D. the credibility of Miss Marin and her Thursday, 9:00 - 3:50 daughter, pointing out that she, “(Miss Marin) over-reacted in her denial of ever hearing about witchcraft. “She thinks she saw Hiram..she struck out at someone in her despair, grief and anger after seeing her mother die in the fire.” Obviously, the defense attorney did a great job of confusing Hours: Monday – Friday 9:30 am – 3:50 pm the witnesses and the jurors. The three men were released. Here’s the ‘funny’ part of the story: Within the next six months, Hiram hanged 10067 himself; Matias was murdered; and PINES BLVD. Luis Garcia was crushed to death in the teeth of a garbage truck. Hmmm, PALM AVE. PALM witches? I wonder!
