John Williams is a famous film music composer. A film music composer is a person who writes music for movies. He is the most Oscar nominated man alive. He is famous for film scores such as , , E.T., , , Indiana Jones, Superman, Jurassic Park, and many others.

In movies and television, we call music diegetic if the characters can hear it. We call music non-diegetic if the characters cannot hear it. In order to determine if the music is diegetic or non-diegetic, we need to search for the source of the sound. For example, if a character is playing the piano, that music would be diegetic, because that character can logically hear that music. If there is a radio turned on in the scene, that music would be diegetic, because we can logically assume that the characters can hear the radio. If there is no distinguishable source for the music, we call that music non-diegetic.

Name three movies wrote the music for.

In the movie Tarzan, there is a scene where characters make music using odd objects as instruments. They make the music themselves. Would this be an example of diegetic or non-diegetic music?

In the movie Pirates of the Caribbean, there is a scene where Jack and Will sword fight. There is music playing, but there is no source for the music. It is background music for the audience only. Would this be an example of diegetic or non-diegetic music?

In Chipwrecked, there is a scene where all of the chipmunks sing a song together. Would this be an example of diegetic or non-diegetic music?
