Kenner mayor’s race offers incumbent and field of experienced hopefuls By TROY BROUSSARD

When it comes to choosing candidates on April 1 in the upcoming Kenner races, there appear to be two schools of thought on the streets of the city. While some favor the seasoned veterans who have navigated the political landscape from before the time that Katrina flooded our lives, others want to go with new faces, who presumably will also bring new ideas and approaches to present day challenges. The leading choice for Chief of Police.

According to a recent public opinion poll, the vast majority of Kenner residents want the next police chief to come from within the ranks of the department. It’s no wonder. Kenner is among the safest communities in Louisiana, and the Kenner PD is rated among the top police forces in the nation. Steve Caraway has almost 30 years of experience in crimefighting, all with the Kenner Police. As a lawman who rose through the ranks to 2nd in command of our police department, Steve Caraway is the logical choice to serve as Chief of Police.
